Gamo Scope

The instructions on a Gamo Scope say to lower the recoil pin down less than a 1/4". What does this mean?

I don't have my instructions anymore, since I got rid of them when I got rid of the gamo scope, but I believe what they are referring to is the screw that sits between the rings vertically down into the rifle. I think it may be just telling you how far to tighten it down.

what rifle are you using?

most gamo scopes that come with their rifles don't have a very good reputation.

Yeah, they're just sayin' don't crank it down real hard into the tube. Only needs to be set into the hole.

yes, dont crank the pin down hard, or it will raise up the ring or that end of the base...I like to tighten the base screws good n tite, then snug down the stop pin. That way the chances of the stop pin raising up anything are pretty much minimized.

Will, Do youself a favor and toss that pathetic Gamo scope/rings in the trash can. You can purchase much better rings/mount and a decent scope for under $100,.........with a lot less agravation too!! tjk

Thank you that's what I did but wasn't sure.  This forum is very useful for questions and Yes I am looking for another scope. I haven't shot this one very much so I looking forward to really sitting down and sighting in this rifle.  Oh by the way it is a GAMO Shadow.

I use the same procedure Dave describes when it comes to tightening down a stop pin.... works well....

Which GAMO scope is that you have???   I actually like the lower power GAMO scopes on my cheaper chinese backyard shooters, the 4x32 scopes that is,,,,  they're simple, work well for me and are CHEAP....

If you're gonna get rid of it I have a new chinese shooter that I have to put a scope on and if you're gonna get rid of it I might be interested in buying it from ya......

I'm about to order a CFX but I was waffling on getting the (supposedly BSA) 4X32 scope for a few extra bucks. This discussion makes me think it's not worth the coin.

Harrison:  "Scope incl.!!" deals arent worth it IMO b/c youre going to want a better scope within a week of shooting your CFX. Thats how i felt with every air rifle ive bought that came with a scope.  The Gamo scope might be good, but there are a lot better ones out there, esp. if you want to shoot small things past 15-20yds.

William, your Shadow shoots 1000 fps, lose the scope that came with the gun!! It is not worth the aggravation to sight it in!!!! I have 4 Gamo rifles, not one of them has the scope they came with. Sell it to Jeff, with the mount, and get something decent for the gun!!! I have the Shadow Fox, Turbo Tuned by The Tuna. I have a Center Point 4-16x50 scope with an Accushot one piece mount on it. Awesome set up!! Hope this helps and keep us informed on how you like the gun bro!!

Opticsplanet.com sells the Leapers 3x9x32 AO for $32 bucks including shipping....  I have quite a few of em on a variety of springers and they have all worked well for me......  just a thought
