Wow, the Democratic Convention starts..
« on: August 25, 2008, 11:09:46 AM »
tonight...YAWN. As a NRA member I thought that I would share something the NRA found on the Demorcratic Presidential candidate.

Barack Obama's Ten Point Plan To "Change" The Second Amendment

1) Ban use of firearms for home defense.

2) Pass Federal laws eliminating your Right-to Carry.

3) Ban the manufacture, sale, and possession of handguns.

4) Close down 90% of the gun shops in America.

5) Ban rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting.

6) Increase ferderal taxes on guns and ammunition by 500 percent.

7) Restore voting rights for five million criminals including those who have been convited of using a gun to commit a violent crime.

8) Expand the Clinton semi-auto ban to include millions more firearms.

9) Mandate a government-issued license to purchase a firearm.

10) Appoint judges to the U.S. Supreme Court and Federal judiciary who share his views on the Second Amendment.

I don't like to bring politics to the back room.....but...I thought it is my God given right to do so. Now that is "CHANGE"!

Yes Greg,

Osama is no friend to the second amendment, or the People that cling to their Bibles and Guns, how else can they rule, if "We the People" are armed, and capable of defending the Constitution, against Domestic Enemies !

Why just yesterday, Greg, as I was loading some ammunition as I watched my favorite Bible Thumper on T.V., I realised just how close the end of Freedom was, and hoped that I would live long enough to do my duty, just one last time. God Bless Our Free America !

I'm afraid I will see my maker soon than I had planned if this yahoo gets in and gets his socialist ideas about the Second amendment put into place. There will be a war that will rival anything we have seen. The death toll for the drones and the law abiding citizens will becatastrophic. I saw that list about 2 weeks ago but so few people have seen it. I'm expecting the worst and hoping for the best only time will tell.

« Reply #4 on: August 26, 2008, 04:05:48 AM »
George Bush has been in office for 7+ years.
First six, the economy was fine.
A little over one year ago:
 1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high
 2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon
 3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%
4) the DOW JONES hit a record high--14,000 +
5) American's were buying new cars, taking cruises, vacations overseas &living large!

But Americans wanted 'CHANGE'!
So, in 2006, voted in a Democratic Congress
Yep-- got 'CHANGE' all right!
 1) Consumer confidenceplummeted
 2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!
 3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase)
 4) American home equity dropped by $12 TRILLION DOLLARS. Prices stillfalling!
 5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6)THE DOW is probing another low~~11,300

--$2.5 TRILLION DOLLARSEVAPORATED FROMSTOCK, BOND & MUTUAL FUND INVESTMENT PORTFOLIOS!
YEP, IN 2006AMERICAVOTED FOR CHANGE!SURE AS HELL GOT IT!!!
DEM'S CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT?
--AND THE POLLS SAY HE'S GONNA BE 'THE MAN'
--CLAIMS HE'S GONNA REALLY GIVETHE U.S. CHANGE!!

Well put. Change was voted in and Pellozzi was in. Scary thing is she is 2nd in line. Now look where that got the voters who voted for them. We don't need more laws just some common or in their case uncommon sense. People want domestice oil exploration and the democrats simply ignore the people and tell you they are the protectors of the middle class. I saw and heard her say that offshore drilling would only drop the price of gasoline 2 cents ten years from now. She believes in natural gas. Turns out she has money in the Boone Pickens programs touting nat gas. Unless the price of crude is brought down world wide the alternatives enery forms will just continue to go up. I just get too angry about the dems programs.

You have to understand that it was George Bush that paved the way for the Demoncrats. I do not see much difference between the two parties, maybe a very slight different path to the same outcome, but mostly squabbling points until they vote on legislation. You ain't gonna like the 'change' wither McCain or Obammas. On the www net, Obamma is getting hammered, while on the News he seems to shine. Jeep98

How would this be possible?
« Reply #8 on: August 26, 2008, 12:58:27 PM »
Playing devil's advocate, from a person who is fairly in the middle when it comes to politics, I would be interested in seeing what procedural documentation the NRA found to support these ten points. I haven't done any research on it, so it may very well be out there. Most of the ten points would have to come from Congress, and some are purely legislated by the states. The Constitutional powers of the President are fairly limited within this proposal. Maybe utilizing the Democratic majority in Congress is the plan? I don't know...I suppose only time will tell who will win the election and what type of change we will experience in America.

A lot of politicians run on platforms that are very well outside of their jurisdiction. It just sounds good. Sure, the President of the United States is arguably the most influential person in the world. People often argue that the President CAN, in fact, change legislative policy purely through his/her influence. This again, may be an argument in support of the ten points listed above. Also, there is the almighty veto.

Just my $.02! I honestly haven't decided 100% who my vote is going towards yet. I believe in the stability and security that would most likely come with a McCain Presidency; but, I often think that Obama may be the one person who can be a voice of reason in an incredibly hectic international community. I have to make up my mind soon here...

Executive Orders. Only issued by the Commander In Chief. Evidently cannot be challenged by Congress, even in peace time.  Are your firearms safe now? I sure would not bet on it. Jeep98

Problem is, McCain is worse.
« Reply #12 on: August 27, 2008, 12:54:34 AM »
I'll be honest, I'm for more social programs because a society that can't take care of it's mentally ill, handicapped, children, and elderly is just sick. I'm also for more spending on education (kids don't vote, so they get screwed). One thing I like about the democrats is that they support constitutional rights for the most part. However the official party stance on firearms and the 2nd amendment is just repulsive. That costs them a lot of votes and it's a stance they need to change. However, McCain is totally out of touch with the public and totally scares me. Every time I hear that man speak I get a little more frightened for this country.

In reality they are all out of touch. The schools would dramatically improve without more money if the students just actually did some school work. I for one can't afford more taxes to pay for more government inefficiency.

I agree with you John. More taxes is not the answers nor is socialized medical programs. I have nothing against helping people that can't help themselves. Free medical doesn't work ask any body living in Canada how good it is and if they say it's ok they don't use it often. In one small area in my county there are over 50 Canadian medical offices that people traval over 2000 miles to get to because the wait to see a doctor is sometimes months. Sorry but I still believe Obama is not the man to lead this country in the right direction but neither of them really are just going with the lesser of the 2 evils.
