They make it very tempting. A dozen or so cross my yard a couple times a day.
The big guy however may take a bit more than a .22. Dragonslayer anyone?

HAVE DRAGON,, WILL TRAVEL!!
« Reply #8 on: September 02, 2008, 09:38:36 AM »
WOW Michael,, your yard is PARADISE!!!!! It is so nice having "critters" in the yard,, I love to watch the Deer in my back yard. I love to study thier behavior & really enjoy watching them. I do however harvest one or 2 each year for the freezer though!!LOL!! Took one last season with my compound bow,(large doe), & one with my Diana 54/22----- Before I get jumped on,, it was a very small yearling doe taken @ about 8 yrds. with a perfectly placed head shot.  Like a few other serious hunters here,, I have studied skulls of game animals for MANY years. Wont do that again ,, I have the Dragon Slayer now!!( enter BIG smiley face!!) My doe tags are not good untill Sept 15,, 12 more days,, man Im gonna be eatin good!! Turkeys?? I "heard" there was a "guy" that took 2 last year with a Diana54/22  @ 17&23 yrds. I think it was the same guy that recently posted pics. here of Posums,, Racoons,, & a Fox he claimed to have killed with a Super Tuned Diana 34/177. Not shure I believe all that guy posts here!!LOL!! Anyway,, if I had a Bear in my yard: I would get some of "J,s" custom 300 Gr. "pellets" for my Tuned Dragon,,( 300 Ft. Lbs. shooting them) & have the BEEEEEEST post EVER here!! Nice yard Michael!! Man I gotta go put out some more corn for my Deer!! (Legal here).  Tim.

Yeah, I like it here. I have some space, good neighbors, and a great landlord. -Now if I can only get her to sell...I have a little pond full of brim, bass, and catfish; even an old gar. There are woods on al sides--can't even see a neighbor's house. There is a $5000 fine for shooting a bear out of season, though. That big one, and a mother and two cubs have been around this year. I have to make sure the dogs are in whenever they come around. If you wanna come around and shoot that beast this winter, just let me know.
I remember the fox thing. That was questionable, to say the least. I do believe I could take one of these turkeys if I wanted. It just wouldn't be hunting. They'll walk up to within 5-10 feet of you without even caring that you're there.
Once my target range is set up a little better, I may have some of you guys over to fish, shoot, and BBQ--if anyone is interested. It would have to be late fall, probably.  I'll bring it up again later on.
Thanks for the kind words.

Hey Mike. Nice pic. Check your states reg's for season dates and such.If it's legal where you live to harvest there at home, then don't feel guilty. But be warned, 'dem turkeys catch on fast as a  rule and what seem's like a gimme today becomes a different story when the season opens.Hunting turkeys legally can be very humbling. And very rewarding.

Hey Mike,, Kind words?? Back at Ya Buddy!! The Fox,, Really happened Bud,, exactly 15 yrds,, CPHP @ 910 fps. from my Super Tuned Diana Panther 34/177. I was just looking at his skull,, perfect shot right to the center of the brain(fuse box). He droped instantly,, "Lights Out"!! Honest Mike. Was just a shame my taxidermist said he was too "skruffy" to justify the expense of mounting him. Was my first Fox,, & Ive been wanting one for MANY years!! While I have taken alot of game with my airguns,, I DO NOT want to condone this to others here. Alot of my posts here are "Harvests" taken at VERY close range shot from a rested position from my porch or enclosed elivated stands. I in NO WAY condone some of what I do. It,s just that I have been hunting for over 35 years & have learned my personal limitations. I know exactly where my guns are going to hit at pre determined yardages before my hunts,, I have only a VERY few airguns I trust 100% to perform when the time comes. One is my Diana (RWS) 54 in 22 cal.,,, a one hole shooter out to 25 yrds., (For me),,20 Ft. Lbs. Right where you need it!! My Super Tuned Diana 34 Panther in 177 Cal.,, this gun is VERY special to me,, was a joint effort between CDT (Mr. Bob Werner) & my Buddy Gene Curtis. This gun belonged to Gene,, him & Mr. Bob worked on it together,, at the last Fun Shoot,, Gene GAVE it to me,, complete with the nicest custom muzzle break from Gene!! I have since "Chopped" & re-crowned the brl.,,,, Ya just have NEVER shot a gun that spits out CPHP,s @ 910 fps. that WILL kill cig. butts EVERY time out to 25 yrds.!!LOL!! The Fox???? Oh yeah,, TRUE STORY Folks. Michael,, "J" is casting me up some 300+ Gr. "bullets" for my Dragon as we speak,,thats another gun that has accuraccy BAR NONE!!  My new Discovery,,, my new Tallon,, still working with them,,, just cant seem to trust either one yet 100%??????????? A Bear with the Dragon?? I feel 100% shure I can do that!! At 25 yrds.,, I can shoot raged holes with my 54/34,,, then,, I can DESTROY those groups with ONE SHOT from the Dragon!!He He He!!  Tim.

-misunderstanding. I was thinking about the guy who posted the fox that had already been posted as a shotgun kill on another forum. I think that the post was removed once the controversy started.
Yeah, I only take game shots that I'm sure of too. That rabbit was just ears when I first saw him. It wasn't until I sat down that he gave me a profile. -didn't trust myself for a headshot at that distance, but I was sure that I could scramble some vital organs with the hollow points.
I have one of Gene's muzzlebrakes on the .177 barrel that came with the 350 from Roger. It is beautiful. I just don't shoot .177. It's a little looser on the .22 barrel, so I didn't change it over. I might try it on my 34 after it's tuned. I think I'm gonna want to chop it too. (hint, hint).
You really make me want a big bore. I've not ventured over to the dark side yet, but...you never know what might happen.
To be given a gun like that is truly an honor. Those guys must think an awful lot about you.
(I'll find out when bear season starts)  ;)

Nothing personal but I'm not convenced that even a dragonslayer would take that beast down. Last thing I would want is a *_*_*_*_*_*ed off bear.

Love the pics!

Kinda like going after a GREAT WHITE shark with a water pistol, one run's faster and one swim's faster and they both got these real nasty sharp teeth. Ed
