The thing I like best about McCain is his choice for VP.  This is no foo-foo, made over, pretty face put on stage for looks and sound bite one liners.  I believe Sarah P is he real deal.

I am more enthusiastic about Sarah than I am about John.
That is part of what she is supposed to achieve, bring in the disaffected conservatives. Good strategy. Here I am.
I can see where she is also going to appeal to a lot of swing voters. She doesn't have to get 'em all to do the job. There are a lot of women who go for women candidates, but are a little uneasy with the Dem values (or the rabble outside the convention hall). Now they have a choice. She was very real.
I thought she was excellent. The press is going to hit back hard, and we will see what she is made of, but she looked like she could grow into a very tough role.

Does she really have what it will take to lead a nation if McCain dies in office? She doesn't seem to have done too well with having an unmarried pregnant daughter. Alaska isn't exactly a mainstream State with major business like some of those in the lower 48. She is a backwater version of the governor of South Dakota or similar. At least she isn't from Utah or Massachussets. The big question is whether she is really qualified for the position or is she a female Dan Quayle?

I don't want to lessen the importance of a President's job, or Premier in Canada.....but lots of times it's the party that decides which decisions/choices to take for the country (Last I heard, North America is still a democracy...). In the last 20 or 30 years....the charismatic, popular or well known person often get voted into office ie Sonny Bono, Arnold and that WWF wrestling guy (Forgot his name...) in the state level. Lots of those people have no real knowledge of the political ways...... just my $0.02

Well it is narrowed down to two choices. You can question all you like, but you still end up with two choices. Many might have preferred other people for either nomination,  but since now you have two choices, you compare one choice to another, not to what might've been.

And that seems pretty straightforward.

As for having what it takes, not too many people ascending to the office have burst into tears and just floundered. I will take my chances with someone who seems to share my values. I know right where the other choice leads. She'll do nicely.

Mahonri,do we know that any of them have what it takes,IMO McCain is probably the most  qualified & desrving, I wouldn't under-estimate Palin.....besides McCain is already accomlishing one his strategic moves.....THE MEDIA/PUBLICITY.....What does Palins pregant daughter have to do with her ability,how many parents have darker secrets regarding their children,I don't think she should be judged or her character be attacked because of her immediate families decisions......show me THE BRADY BUNCH & I will give the winning numbers for MEGA MILLION!
