I've been lookin' and thinkin' 'bout the QB-7X guns. The QB-78, 78D and the 78car look interesting. I think I have a good idea what the differences are, but y'all tell me just so I'm sure. Is it worth the extra $20 for the deluxe? Who has the best deal (and service) on these guns. I'm not looking for a tuned or modded gun, I can do that myself. Archer and Compassco are the only place I've seen 'em for sale, are there others? Thanks!

Try Best Airgun and Mike will be the one shipping it so you can info him for power tune. Mike is the QA/Tech for Best Airgun. If you want plane AG then get it form Archer's Or Compasseco. The deluxe has a better trigger package the the old QB78 and has a thicker barrel with metal band. If you're not shooting a lot then the 78 is the one but if you want to shoot a lot per session then the tanker is best..QB79 and I think Archer's the only one that has it. I have the 78d bulked and can get 30 shots and a 79 with air source bulked and can get 200+ shots.

Matt,

I find there's no practical difference in performance (accuracy and muzzle velocity) between the basic QB78 and the QB78 Deluxe - based on our "Gold Service" testing over thousands of guns. So, if you're basing a decision on performance, go for the cheaper gun. But I do think the QB78 Deluxe is worth the additional cost as it has a better stock, fiber optic sights, metal barrel band, larger diameter barrel and "gold" trigger and bolt handle (although the trigger mechanism is exactly the same as in the standard QB78. It just depends what's more important to you. $20.00 buys a lot of pellets!

I bought a QB78D from Stephen Archer a few months ago. It looks great and I love shooting it!  But in retrospect, I would probably get the tanker if I was doing it over.  I don't like changing cartridges so often.  I'll probably bulk it this summer.

Thanks for the info guys. I pushed the button on a QB78D from Best Airgun (with Mike M. check). It'll be here Monday, I can't wait!
