What to do with Scope?
« on: August 23, 2008, 10:00:04 AM »
Hi.

I need some advice about whether I should keep my scope, so I need some advice.  Let me explain what I was doing and how I came about needing some advice.

I got up this morning about 5:45 AM to go out and try to shoot some rabbits... well, I didn't get to shoot any because there was none to shoot.  So I decided that I'd shoot some rounds through my CFX, target shooting that is, trying to sight in my new Centerpoint Adventure 4-16x44 AO I got from WallyWorld.  I finally got it sighted in, and man, that thing is accurate and very consistent.  I was shooting 1" groups at 25 yards with CPD Lights.  Anyways, after about 300 pellets or so and arms getting very tired, I went to pull the underlever down....... and you know what happened next... that thing slipped... the underlever swung back so hard that it cracked the plastic muzzle brake... made me MAD!!!  The underlever would not latch anymore, so I took off the muzzle brake for inspection, and it was cracked, not that big though.  I put it back on and screwed it down, well, it still sits nice and snug and the underlever is latching to it nicely now, a little misaligned now, but not a big deal.  I go to shoot it and it is waaaaaaay off now.  It's shooting far to the left so I had to turn the dial about 16 clicks to get it back on target.  It's still pretty accurate, but I'm not too sure about the scope.  I just couldn't believe that the scope was off by that much.

I know, I know, I'm a retard for letting it happen.  It was feeling soooo good, I couldn't stop shooting it... it was so fun!  I was so proud of it, then I messed up... okay okay, enough about that.  What do you guys think I should do about the scope?  Return it?  Keep it? Burn it?  I don't know.

Thanks all. :p

THere may not be anything wrong with the scope. Sounds like you may have bent the barrel.

How can I check if the barrel is bent or not?  I mean, yes I can look at it, but is there any easy way to tell?  Thanks -GB
