Glad you posted this, especially with a picture. There was a long thread on the Yellow about shooting primers, maybe a year ago. Really, really dangerous. Even the handling (read any reloading manual).

Geez...at least you wore safety glasses! Uh, you DID say "glasses" so I assume they were of the safety type. The question remains however...What were you thinkin'?  LOL. Joking with you friend but it could have ended in a  very serious injury and I don't mean to your pride. I'm happy you wern't badly hurt.

Just regular prescription glasses....that`s what I wear when shooting regular firearms and pellet guns....I hope they`re strong enough.

I know primers would explode forward and maybe the pellet might fly back....but I just didn`t know the primer cap would fly back too!!!!!  heh heh

Primers are kind of two-piece. There's a little piece inside, under the cap, called the "anvil". It's what the firing pin crushes the priming compound against. No firing pin/bolt to block it, the cap can blow back out. Plus fragment. Beautiful little slivers of metal to pick out of your eye, etc. Touchy little cusses, too. Why they make primer holders.

Absolutely nothing wrong with reloading rifle or pistol cartridges. Just remember to follow all instructions religiously and you'll be OK. I only posted about this because some people think those little primers are nothing to worry about. I've never had a stack go off like some reloaders but it can be more than a little unpleasant.

While I'm at it, it's not a bad idea to wear protection over your prescription glasses. A lot of styles are on the small side these days and don't offer any side protection.
