Hunter 220 Chrony string
« on: February 10, 2007, 04:55:39 AM »
This sounds about right to me for a new .177 Hunter 220, anyone else?

Crosman Wadcutter .177 7.9gr

Shot  1 887.90
Shot  2 898.30
Shot  3 887.20
Shot  4 901.90
Shot  5 899.30
Shot  6 877.40
Shot  7 891.10
Shot  8 886.00
Shot  9 892.80
Shot 10 907.90

Low Velocity FPS 877.40
High Velocity FPS 907.90
Extreme Spread FPS 30.50
Average Velocity FPS 892.98
STD Deviation 8.51

I rarely chrony anything, but thought I'd give it a shot...or 10:)

Expect it to go up with a little bit o' time. Also, CPL' s (the same nominal weight) might give a little more consistency.

That's what I thought too.  These are the crosman wadcutters in the plastic tub that you can buy at Wally World for $3.99 per 500.  NOT the best or most consistant pellet there is.  I have some Crosman Premier HP's in the tin that tend to group a little better and I suspect are of a better quality, I just grabbed what I had on the bench and headed to the yard for a quick string over the chrony.  This is a refurbed Hunter 220 from Natchez and I am pretty sure that other than a small scratch on the stock, this is a pretty much brand spankin new 220.  Probably a customer return by some anal customer that just couldn't get over the 1/2" scratch...I might be a little more concerned if this wasn't such a good price deal on a refurb.  I noticed the other day that Natchez refurb pricing on the 220 had gone up quite a bit, so this may have been the end of that...glad I got in when I did, I'm really happy with what I got.  Now I have 4 guns here with less than 500 shots through each and maybe less than 700 shots through all four of them total...and I want to buy at least 2 more within the next couple months (B26 and an IZH46M).  I just need to sell off a few, then I'll be "set".  I had my two QB's out last night and my new 2260, I just sat there looking them over, admiring the engineering and wood...hehe, I should collect matchbox cars, it would be cheaper:)

Thanx for the input Vince!

Yours is a bit stronger than mine...

Actually, than both of mine.

I had a 220 refurb with the barrel visibly pointing to the left. I sent it back to Gamo, they sent it back to me, and I sent it to them AGAIN... at which point they finally replaced it.

Both did 860's out of the box with CPL's.

BTW - did you get a free soft carry case with yours? I did with mine... which eased the whole "send it back to Gamo twice" deal for me.

I don't think so, but then I have not dug through the HUGE double box they sent it in yet....it's filled with styropeanuts:)  Maybe there's a case in there?  Doubt it, but I'll look before I toss the box.
