Well said, Steph! I am of German descent.  My grandfather left Deutschland with his family, and held several patents in the ore industry here.  He was old school.  Homeland language was verboten in his household.  English was spoken, as long as anyone was under his roof.  A true patriot.  A proud American, a tough family man (sometimes too tough), but his values about America were etched in stone.  I'm proud of him and his family (my mother and relatives).

EDIT: One other thing, that came-to-light in our local newspaper, that really chaps-my-butt, is the desire of educators here, to first teach illegals, and their children, how to speak proper Spanish (everyone thought Southern English was bad?) before THEY ARE TAUGHT ENGLISH!

What is wrong here? Have I missed something? Apparently I've been living with my head in the sand? I'm so disgusted with our government's misguided philosophy I could spit nails, and have on occasion.

Mexico doesn't want their own poor! They are uneducated, economically disadvantaged, and despised by the elitists in their own country! The elitists are only too glad they are streaming out of Mexico.  I do respect those willing to learn our culture, and become a productive member of our great country.  This is a very small percentage, with most a liability to our resources (we allowed this to happen!).

If we aspired to live in other countries, as the illegals here do, we would be laughed at, and deported pronto.

Adding insult to injury when dealing with officials, I've come to the conclusion that, "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished".  My better half is a perfect of example of it.

She is expected to interpret at her new job, and yet, is reprimanded, when her job responsibilities suffer because of it.

Truly, a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation, and she is talking of quitting her new job, as well.  You want to talk of negative impact from illegals? It's more than talk, now.

I've worked with people professionally for 35 years, in my own businesses, and other retailers', and I'm so disgusted I'm thinking of retiring and doing my own thing.  People (who've lived in a cocoon for years) have no idea  what the real world is like, when you are a public servant in any capacity, these days.  I'm tired of being insulted, harassed, and verbally abused by members of our degenerate subculture, and that includes people of many races/ethnic origins.  A supervisor of mine came into my office after I had an encounter with a foul-mouthed person, and he had the audacity to suggest that he wasn't mad at me personally, and implied that whomever he was mad at, qualified and caused his behavior.  Unbelievable.  I loudly said I didn't care who he was mad at, I don't want to hear it.  I didn't mean for this post to wind up a lengthy tome, but to quote an unknown source, "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it any more!"

Just recently, the INS busted a McDonalds inside a retailer here, and my better half heard one employee exclaim she was glad she was on break, or they would have taken her in (she knows very little English).  They should have busted the retailer too, as the haul would have been dozens.  Wonder why they didn't?  Disgusted yet?

I've got to remove myself from that, before a heart attack takes me out!

Dang Stephanie, you really are my kind of gal.. hehe I could not of put it any better. :) The key word is LIBERALS..:) Liberals fight to give our money away buy letting the foreigners in the US to have there babies. Educate, feed, clothe, school them, and give them free medical attention. It will never stop and has only gotten worse sense I was old enough to see what was happening. All our ancestors before us would roll over in there graves if they came back and saw what was going on. I have voted every election since I was 21 and I sure wish everyone else would too. Some just say oh well what the H__l.. The rich liberals and rich foreign corporations are actually putting men and women in our government to ring the bell to there tune. I see now that most all our candidates are paid and delivered to us to vote for. And they just represent the big corporations paid candidates...:) So I agree on everything you have said and even a bit more.. hehe One of the main issues is that many of our generation and newer generation here in the US do not even speak proper English. Nor do they even know who is today's President or Vice President. Many do not even know what the 4th of July stands for and that says allot..:)

OH! and that is my nickles worth as well..:)

I think he is a great American. Perhaps he could have taken a different approach. Then again if I was him,...I would have done it the same way he did.
