Hey Harry,,,,

I was using CPL's  (the gun shoots em like a laser)  and the distance was 20 yards.  Hit him dead in the chest and upon impact he went limp, fell off the wire and did a death glide straight into the ground.   It was great  :)

Hey Only1harry, I've nailed one crow with a Diana model 24 in .177 caliber, she shoots in the 500fps range....I used a Crosman Wad Cutter @ 7.9gr....U can figure out the FPE. I was aiming at it's chest...actually wing since it was facing left at 25 meters. My air rifles are zeroed in for 10 meters....and they all tend to shoot left after 30 meters (I guess the rifling is left hand twist). In reality I missed where I was aiming at....since the pellet hit it in the head....the pellet was still climbing and "travelled" left. My hunting story is about 5 pages down named "Little Train That Could".

Head shots work........

Yes I remember that very well Stanley!  I haven't read your post but I remember posting and saying wow.. I think :)
But a 24 is not CO2 either :-)  Jeff didn't get it with a head shot.  Actually with a head shot you don't need much power to take out a crow, or squirrel/rabbit, etc.
I shot a crow at 11-12yds I think with a Crosman wadcutter too, many years ago with a 760 pumper (10 pumps) which was about ~550fps with most regular pellets.  The Crow reacted and raised its wings and then just flew away.  I saw the impact in its chest.  Then on another day I shot 1 with a BB which had 610-620fps MV, at around 15-16yds - same thing.  That was probably a bad thing because the BB's are like 5-5.5gr and have less energy than a pellet.  I used to take out Starlings with those BB's at 30-35yds, but it did nothing to a crow.  Did the same stupid thing thing with a racoon.  It was terrorizing my mom & sister and wouldn't leave the deck so I opened the sliding door slightly and shot it from 10ft in the head with 10 pumps.  It just ran away.  Ah if I can only be 14 again :)

I can imagine that crow and racoon giving you the finger ha ha....and saying, "Get back to me when you grow up and get a REAL bb gun". Yep, for them you will need some knock-down power. They must've alot of layers of feathers or fur to protect them.
