Condor takes anotter nutter :)
« on: September 08, 2008, 11:34:44 AM »
After checking out the back yard all throughout the day finally again late around 6:45 I spot a squirrel on the ground about 28-29yds out.  I like them on the ground because sometimes shooting at them up at the trees, you can't be sure where the pellet will end up as I usually get full pass-through with squirrels.

This particular one was sitting or laying on a rock munching on something in front of the rock and I couldn't see its head.  He only looked up once for a sec. and back down again.  After 3-4min. I started losing patience so I decided to go for a back spinal & vitals shot since most of what I could see was his back and it was getting dark out fast.  I adjusted the A/O and sent the 21gr Kodiak towards the tree rat.  He conducted a small death dance but he didn't move much from where he originally was.  The Kodiak actually entered the upper middle of his back and exited somehow out the left ear and took part of his left ear out as I was shooting from an angle.  I was going to take a pic of the left side of his head but the wife was yelling that dinner was ready.  Took a couple of pics with & without the flash as it was getting dark, especially under the trees he was at, but there was some light left.  You can see his left ear a little in the first pic that's bloodied.  Couldn't tell you if the Kodiak traveled through the neck to the back of the head or exited out its shoulder and hit the ear from the outside or what..  It was pretty weird, but 1 thing was for certain.. the Kodiak traveling at 960fps (at the lowest PW setting!) wasn't stopping for flesh or bone..  The Condor had a fresh 2700psi fill this morning and after 15 shots of practice around Noon, I chronied it and it was shooting 960's so then I stood it up on the wall by its bipod, and waited for an unsuspecting nutter.
I think I 'm going to try and keep the pace at one a week, so I don't run out of targets to shoot.  Small game season is long here and doesn't end until the end of February!

Thanks guys, I like my Condor too :-)

But really, it's overkill for squirrels..  I can't wait till December when the crows start landing on my property or up in the trees by the dozens.  I can now shoot them at 60dys or hit the woods and take them from pretty far.  Hopefully without spooking them, because they 'll think they 're safe that far out :)  I know even when I walked around outside or to my car, they never bothered flying away that far off.  I always had to wait until they were within 40yds to use my Springer on them but once they caught on, they would hang around 50-65yds out near the edge of my property.  I 'm afraid I 'll only get to shoot a couple of them before they catch on again, and then they 'll hang out across the street just 25yds away laughing at me :)  They 're that fricking smart..  Hopefully that new camo netting on my windows that Jeff pointed me to, will fool them for a long time.

Yep them crows are smart and remembers!!!!! When I hear them GWAH GWAH-ING...Ilook out the window or go out to see where they're at. Or when I'mwalking to my car to go to work and if/when they see me they fly off. Sometimes when they're further away....I see people bike or walk past them (Not more than 4 or 6 feet away), and they don't fly off. They hate/remember me because I shot one of their buddies over a month ago!!!
