Velocity Tar???
« on: September 09, 2008, 02:30:01 AM »
Macarri has "Heavy" and "Clear" but talks about "Vel" tar.
I posted this:
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/airguns/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=10561&mid=79857#M79857
And Splash postulated Clear is Velocity. Can you guys confirm?
By the way, Fix, my breech seal appears to be fine. Now I'm waiting for JM to re-open for lubes, seal, spring.

No, The clear tar and velocity tar are two completely different lubes and one of the lubes that I use among many others. Clear tar looks somewhat like Vaseline with about the same consistency while velocity tar is black and very thick. It is actually a heavier consistency than heavy tar and is a shiny black color. Not at all like the heavy tar. Excellent for pivots and areas that are hard to access once the gun is assembled. Also excellent for the main spring for guns used in hot climates.

So, does JM sell velocity tar? He only lists Heavy, Clear and Euro. Is the Euro=Velocity?
Even better put, since I live in S.E. Louisiana, i.e. very Hot, should I be looking at Heavy for the spring od, clear for the guides and moly for the piston?

Whoops I meant to say Velocity instead of Heavy for Main Spring od

Also, still don't know how to acquire the Vel Tar?

Thanks man. I'll be ordering up some parts but don't want to tear it down 'til I get the lubes. So, unless somebody is selling Macarri lube kit with Vel tar, I'll have to wait until he reopens. Plus, I'm taking yur advice. It is shooting straight and relatively hard (took out a tree rat in my barn last night) so, I'm not in a rush to get her opened up. I am still thinking trying both stock spring and seal and a E3650 w/small Apex to try both setups.

Trek may have some JM lube.
Send him a pm and see if he has what your looking for.

on JM's site he says a small lube will do 10 guns, now that i have the lube it seems a small lube is enough to do guns for years to come.
unless i'm using far to little per gun.

Found out today, JM is opened and has discontinued Vel Tar. I got some Heavy and New "Euro" tar. Figured I could try both for a comparison?
