This latest batch of squirrels can't read....
« on: September 15, 2008, 03:30:18 AM »

Well, after my wonderful long shot I figured I'd not see another squirrel for a couple weeks.

WRONG!

I have bagged one every day since that shot till this Sunday when they must have taken the day off.

Here's two of them. First one was 33 yards with the Talon SS. I am hitting RIGHT where I want to with this gun at anything below 45 yards so these dudes were screwed. First one here was dumb enough to be hanging on to the acorn tree upside down thinking himself invisible. Where the blood starts to eminate is where I hit him.

He was fairly large as you can see.

This next dolt actually came out of the tree and sat up pretty (side profile-ergo the under eye shot) right behind my shooting stand and drop down squirrel target.

These delinquints should have stayed in squirrel school so they could have read the signs.

I'm beginning to think that we have big squirrels over here.

I just bagged another one 10 minutes ago and he was 20" from stem to stern.  They seem really big and healthy this year.

Good shooting!  33yd head shot is not really an easy task :)

Yeah these are good size adults.  All the ones around me are "small" this year.  That's because I took out their parents & grandparents last year - they were big!  I 've noticed so far this year since the season opened on 9/1, the ones I took were pretty average.

So what gun did you use for the 2nd one?  Not the SS?

Ya I did harry.

I've been using it for everything since I got it.  I really need to clean my inventory of guns out because while there nice, they're not getting used.

Sadly I will also admit that the SS makes it really, really easy.  (evil laugh)

I see you've got that Talon "dialed" in.  Excellent shooting....especially the 33 yard shot in the head!!!  Where's the photo of the mighty Talon WITH it's kills?

Good shooting. My neighbor across the street, apparently has all the squirrels in the neighborhood. They've been very destructive on his peaches and hickory nuts this year. As well as eating his grass, and mine. He wants me to take care of his tree rat infestation, and I'm all too willing to oblige.
