New shooter gets a nutter..
« on: September 17, 2008, 01:06:39 PM »
I was looking out the window this afternoon and caught this guy trying to chew on the side of my shed. This is the 2nd tree rat I caught trying to chew his way into my shed this year, to get to the bird seed stored inside. I got my new R7 ready and loaded it up with a CP 7.9 grain.  It was a pretty long shot and I hadn't taken any shots outside with the gun yet, so I put the cross hairs on his mid section/boiler room shot and squeezed the trigger. I heard the POP and he just fell over and barely moved. I went down there and measured it out with my contractors tape, It was a 33 yard shot. I sold my old R7 to buy this new R7 and had been missing my quiet low powered yard gun for a while. I am sure this new R7 is going to be as fun to shoot and as accurate as my last one. It feels good to be home and on my way to recovery :)

"Boiler room/pump house" shots always work for me!!! Good job Bro!!!!! That's funny,...Bro' Shadow swears by the fuse box method, but I've had the best luck with organ kills,....OK,.... Shadow must be an electrician,...me, I'm more of the 'engine room' type of hunter. But hey, both methods get the job done. LOL's Nice shot Chris, tjk

I really like the mid to low powered shooters. They seem to do as much or more damage than a higher powered rifle with a well placed shot. With less velocity, I feel the impact of the pellet and ft lbs is absorbed bye the animal and not the ground. I couldn't find an exit hole and he went right down.

Harry, it's the R7 double gold combo. It comes with the muzzle break no sights and a 3x9x40mm scope, although this is the 3x9x32 . I just received the right scope (little mixup) and have not installed it yet.

Brent, I would trade ya, but I am down to one pup. I had deposits before I bred, but I had someone back out on the pic male. I am thinking about keeping him, but the wife may find one of my powder burners and shoot me...lol
Unless Timmy is looking for a new hunting dog ???

Cute pups, are they pits? So cute before they grow up into vicious, bloodthirsty killing machines. (hahahahahaha)  One of my customers has a good eatin' size Staffordshire, and it's as sweet and playful as a puppy. It stood up on it's hind legs, and was licking my ear. Customer asked me if he was bothering me. I told her,"No, he's just tasting. He's not bothering me, unless he takes a bite."  Nice dog. Has a head like a horse. Best part is, he's not a crotch sniffer.

BTW, I like that R7. I've been thinking of selling most of my air rifles to help pay for one. I absolutely love my R1 and would like to have it's mild mannered little brother. Same reason I like shooting my B3s, low to mid powered springers are easier to shoot well.

Yeah Jeremy, they are UKC registered american pitbull terriers. It is a shame they get in the wrong hands, they are very loyal and eager to please. I have had shepards dobermans and rotweilers and out of them all, these are the most stable dogs I have ever owned. My dogs have never even growled at anyone and my male is now 6.5 years old. In the UK they are called the nanny dog and are one of the best family dogs.
