based on a couple of reviews here, I got a 1377.  The only pump gun I've ever owned was a Remington 870, so I'm back to knowing nothing.  Are there any quirks I need to be aware of, any special tips and tricks?  I looked on the Crosman Gate, but I'm pretty sure those people don't speak the same brand of English I grew up with :-).  It does sound like this thing is at least as tinkerable as a Gamo springer, so that's probably a good thing.  At risk of sounding like a broken record, can anything be done about the trigger?  Or will it smooth out with use?  Lighter would be nice, too.

Anyway, better watch out, guys!  I now have a pistol, an open sighted rifle, and a scoped rifle.  Be warned, the next shooting match is going to take some work!

I love my 1377, great little gun.  I recently bought the carbine stock for it,,,, best money I ever spent.  Turned the gun into a great little carbine and shrunk the size of my groups right away.  As for quirks or tricks, I don't know of any, it's just a nice shootin little gun.   Enjoy your new weapon  I made a "review post" recently on different pellets I tested  with my 1377 if you're interested.

If you have access to 'the yellow', get ahold of a fellow who has the username of Ricdoug. He has a quick & easy way to make the trigger better on the 1377. He may also be on the 'Crosman forum'. Ric's trigger fix made my 1377 100% better.

Only problems I ever had were:

One of the pins holding the pump handle would work out, and the rear sight was held in place by a single screw, which would let the sight turn if it was bumped.  It was an excellent shooter, though, and I hate myself for giving it to my brother.

So for $60 or so, stop hating yourself and go get another one!  This is looking like it might be my "winter" gun, my shop is long enough for a 10 yard range, but the rifles are a little nerve racking to shoot in there.  But with 3-4 feet of snow on the ground, and temps in the single digit to low teens, shooting outside does not sound like much fun.  The 1377 should be great alternative, especially with fewer pumps.  Now I just need to leave some food laying around to draw a population of rodents for targets :-).   Thanks for the input, everyone.

We don't get snow or very little of it. I plan on doing the same thing this winter. Got my 1377 and am thinking of doing my own grips and pump handle for it. Maybe we could have a garage pistola shoot off this winter..

trigger fix on a 1377 or 2240 is easy easy easy.

Take of  the pistol grips and you will see the a spring, thats the spring that holds up the sear, and creates most of the trigger pull weight.
You can take it out, and compress it a bit and put it back in...that works, but is sub-optimal in my opinion.
Replacing it with a softer spring yeilds better results and is easyer to keep safe in my experience.
Whichever you do make sure it's safe, whack the gun on the butt a few times to make sure it doesnt go off...

If you want to take things a small step farther, the sear is a bit rough from the factory, smoothing and polishing the contact surfaces helps a bit.
Spacers on the various pivot pins to keep everything inline and from wobbling help a little too.

As for your 1377 there is a ton of things you can do to it and I am currently upgrading mine. I to bought the stock and also the steel breech that is on the Crosman website. I am going to install a 24" barrel and a better piston so I can up the power and accuracy. There are
some things you can do to the trigger that will give a better and lighter pull I'll look for it later and send it to you as a link.
If you need any tips let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.

Thanks, Jonathan, that's exactly the sort of info I was hoping to see.  I can see I'll definitely be taking this thing apart real soon.  I can tell from the feel, you're right, the sear is on the rough side.  Any suggestions for a source for replacement springs?  Thanks again.

Sounds like a plan.  I intend to do some grips etc. also.  I like the muzzle heavy feel, but the grip is definitely too small for my hands.  I've got some fairly nice wood in my shop that would be perfect, I think I can make some grips at least as nice as the target grips on the Crosman site, and not have to spend $50+ on it.  Got any designs in mind?

Me with designs, not a one but I can point you to parts you will need and such. I today just ordered a 24" barrel from Crosman to go along with the steel breech and should stock. I plan on also replacing the piston with a better one that will handle more pumps without any problems.

I'll keep you posted as I get my parts in.
