Spring Guides
« on: September 25, 2008, 05:33:32 PM »
I’m doing a tune and lube on a couple of Beeman Sportsman SR3’s. A 177 cal  known as a model 1068 and a 22 cal model 1069.
I finished the 22 and there was a dramatic difference in the smoothness and sound and the trigger is almost as good as the trigger on my HW97 – smooth, no creep and a clean break. With the stock spring and seal I’m getting 625 – 650 fps with JSB’s.

I’m working on the 177 and noticed the spring guide is plastic and is some what bent. I think I need to turn a new guide. I thought I might fab it out of aluminum with hard washers between the spring and the guide. However I’m not sure just what the function of the guide is. How much clearance should be between the guide and the spring and the guide and the receiver tube. Can any one give some advice?

Also has anyone found a replacement spring and seal for these guns?
