And I think I'm going to take back at least a little of what I said about the extra power. In thinking about this a little more, I'd say go for it when you can. It occurs to me that one of, if not the best thing, about the Talon platform is the ability to easily and relatively cheaply change calibers and power levels. That makes it a great way to really play around with magnum power without breaking the bank. And THAT can help us zero in on what we really want or need from our air guns. I went all the way, with the custom valve I had I could get power equivalent to a .22 LR. And once I got there, I realized I neither needed or wanted it :-). In fact, it even made me realize that I don't need anything bigger than a .177, and that means I get to shoot at least twice as much for the same money :-). I'm down to just 2 rifles, both .177 PCP's, and both more than adequate for my needs/wants. I don't think I'd have the nice rifles I have now if it wasn't for my Talon assisted education and experimentation, so like I said, go for it.
BTW, Air Force has barrels in 3 calibers, .177, .20, and .22. If you've never tried a .20, now's your chance. I was surprised at the performance of the .20 in my Talon, it seemed to have a lot more raw smack down power than the FPE numbers would indicate. I don't really see much need for it in a PCP, but I can now understand the appeal in a springer. Later.
