Bullseye for the G1
« on: October 07, 2008, 01:28:28 PM »

Or rats-eye rather... I'm out back about 10 minutes ago getting some fresh air. It's pitch dark and I can hear some movement way out back. I shine my maglight that way and see this guy scurry into the bushes. I turn off the light, wait a few seconds and turn it back on and he's back out. He scurries away again, but this time he's watching with his head sticking out of the bushes. I decide this is a good time to introduce my new G1 to a little action so I load up a JSB Dome, get in the prone just inside my back door and ask my wife to shine the light out there for me. This time the bugger doesn't even flinch at the light and gives me a clear view of his gleaming red eye at about 23 yards. Lights out for this one...

I think that rat is bigger than the rats JONNYQUEST shoots.  U've to set up your rig like Ed's......Maglight and laser on top of the scope....will make things easier.  Excellent shooting btw.

This guy didn't seem that big when I was looking through my scope but he sure is a fat one up close.  I think it's bigger than the last one I posted.  At least he didn't flip over into my neighbor's yard 'cause I don't have any fishing gear other than spear guns.

Since last night I've been thinking about setting up a light rig on my G1.  I may give that BSA (the same one that comes on the Gamo Varmint Hunter) one a try if I can't find a mount for just the light.  I really don't need the laser - as long as the light is bright enough to see about 20 yards out with my scope.  The wife is interested in shooting rats too so I may order a mid-powered springer for her and maybe mount a light/laser set on that one...
