Hawke AirMax Scopes
« on: October 12, 2008, 08:24:14 AM »
Has anyone had any dealings with these folks?  Pretty good bargain considering low base price plus free S&H.

I am interested in the AirMax 4-12x40 for $136.  Anybody know of other vendors of this scope besides Straightshooters?  Thanks.

I just found out that Cobra Airguns carries the Hawke scopes - still the Montana Test site has some good deals if they are on the up and up.

I own an Hawke 4-12x40 Air Max and have just started using it on a RWS 34. So far with over 300 shots it is still holding its poi. The glass is excellent, clear and does not darkin on high AO. Straitshooter sells them and has an excellent review. They are springer rated and they rate them high. Also if you like mil dot scope the hawk is the best I have seen so far. Easy calculation on the dots per distance. They even have software to set up your scope with...:)

According to Straightshooters it is rated heavy recoil, but that does not mean that it can't be broken..:) With them big hitters like the Patriot you never know..:) My reasoning would be if I owned a Patriot I would start with a BSA Air Rated Scope first to see if it would hold up.. I am a bit conservative with scope money. I usually do not spend more than $200.00 for a scope and I have only ever bought one of them..:)

Dave, for the patriot I would try the BSA 3X12X44 air gun scope. This is a very reasonably priced scope that can stand up to the heavy recoil guns.  I had great luck with this model on my patriot/ Kodiak, 350 mag and HW90. I have 2 of them and they are bullet proof. Not my best scope, but definitely one of my most durable scopes for sure. The Leopold would be great also, if you have the money to spend.

well, i don't have the money right now...but before i put a scope on it, i want to get it tuned and put the jm kit in it...its a little down the road, so i'm hoping in a bit, i'll have money for a nice scope for it.  i've never had a bsa scope before...only centerpoint, and leapers, and one bushnell trophy...i have a centerpoint 4-16x40 on my tuned 350mag, and 500 shots later, i think it may be starting to rotate a little...but its still hitting where i aim, so i'll leave it till i get the patriot worked out.

Impact Air Guns carries the Hawkes but you would have to ask them about the pricing. I was very happy with the AirMax on the very heavy recoil Walther Falcon Hunter, but really don't have many rounds under it yet. Clarity and dot system are excellent.
