QB79 started to leak
« on: October 13, 2008, 03:33:05 PM »
As you all know I bought new QB 79 and week later it started to leak profusely around the gas block. I couldn't believe it at first that seals could go bad that fast. But when I asked Mike Melik about it he confermed that it is the main problem with these guns. He pointed me out in the right direction to find the replacement seals. The ones that they use on the CO2 tanks are the same size. Here I go running around all the Kmarts and Wal Marts trying to find these seals but miraculasly all seals sold out in every store I went. What a frustration!!!
Finally today I went to paintball shop and I found them...MY PRECIOUSSSS!!!! I  thought if I will not find any I was going to put the as block with old seals in and seal it with silicone sealant.
Before I put new seals in I took the valve out and did some mods on it and shimed the main spring. I, then, put new seals on the gas block and it works perfectly. I do not have chrony but I can DEFINATLY say it shoots much harder according to penetration and sound it makes on the wood.
I am happy again and I love this gun- pleasure to shoot!!!

Glad you got it running again.  The paintball o-rings  are at least as good as the originals...think they are a bit better.  Pick up a couple of spares when you find some, it does seem to be the o-rings most often replaced.
