My oldest daughter got her first squirrel today. The shot was taken standing offhand at 35 yards with a Gamo Shadow using CP pellets. Little guy dropped like a rock.

That is a fine shot by anyone's standards!

Man, I sure hope my girls will hunt with me when they're old enough.

Lucky you Russ. Lucky you.

Does she go hunting with you are do you just hunt in the back yard by the bait feeders?

I think it is great that you and your wife have allowed her to shoot and become good at it. I know you are proud of her.

Keep up the good work.

I am looking forward to more pictures of her and her kills. O' By the way, does she have a name?

Congrats to you and your daughter Russ.  A proud day indeed !!  I vividly remember the first day my youngest daughter went squirrel hunting with me, during which she bagged a nutter also.  She still goes small game hunting with me, she loves it, and we have a great time.  It's great that you introduced her to shooting and encouraged her.  Great Job by both of you :)

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. The shot was made with my tuned Gamo Shadow running a Tasco Golden Antler scope. The pellets used were CP's, same as always around here LOL. What can I say, they simply work.
She has been shooting for as long as she has been able to hold a Fastdeer. We hit the woods at 7:00 that morning and settled into position in full camo but a stray cat got her attention and next thing you know it is in the hide with us. Needless to say the squirrels became very scarce at that point. We headed back to the house and enjoyed some hot chocolate and a few hours later I notice a nutter raiding one of our bird feeders. I let her take the shot while I watched the feeder from inside. I heard the shot and watched the critter drop and assumed she had been in a sitting position at that range. She was too scared it would spot her getting into position so she took the shot standing. She was actually complaining that she could have done better but she was nervous LOL!

We used to have major squirrel issues with these feeders until we put a squirrel feeder with corn in it on the other side of the property. Now we get a stray now and then but for the most part they seem to have figured out how it works around here. That one wasn't so bright though.

I'll make sure she reads the posts. It will help to boost her confidence.

Thanks everyone.
