gamo barrel swap

i don't own either of the guns i'm going to talk about, but within the next year i wanted to try something.  any input is appreciated(from, YOU IDIOT!, to, it may work, lol.)

i'm the kind of person that, when someone says something is a piece of crap, i try to make it what they never thought it could be...don't know why...just am...(thats why i'm going to mod my cavalier...really, its a sickness that i have)

well, when the viper express came out, i thought that an air shotgun might be a good idea...then i find out that it has nowhere near enough power to tickle any animal, let alone dispatch one.

so, obviously, i want to make it a shotgun worth firing.

so(i know it would be money, but remember...sickness, lol), if i had a hunter extreme, and viper express, and switched the barrels, then reloaded the shells with a heavier shot...what do you think?(can the barrels be switched?)

haha!  good point paul.  also, i was thinking about maybe choking the barrel a little more to tighten the spread to make it more effective...what thinks ya?

Doesn't Sumatra already offer an air shotgun? Sounds like a lot less work.

haha, ok, i'm gonna go through with it as a summer project...i'm gonna see if i can make gamo's gun the correct way.  i wish they just threw a .25 cal barrel on the extreme that was similar to the shotgun barrel, and used heavier shot...i bet that would work...but i obviously can't make that at home......after i'm done making a not bad .22 shotgun/rifle, i'll see if i can get other ppl to like the idea also, and maybe we can get gamo to make the gun, so everyone can like it...it would sure be great if we could get it on the patriot though...now thats a lot of gun...and with gas-ram options, you could have a lot of fun getting starlings around a barn or something with it.  anyone else have any ideas on how else to modify it so it will be a decent shot gun?  i'm looking for it to kill starlings at 20-25 yrds...i think with the extreme powerplant, and maybe #7 shot(what do you guys think on the shot size?) it could work effectively.  and it can take the grtIII...who could ask for more?

But thanks to Bro' Ralph in Mo, I think my 'buffing' days with this rifle are over. Finally getting this rig up to snuff. I think if you have an idea, you should follow your gut instinct. Nay-sayers are abundant everywhere, but persevirence (sp??) and the continual effort, will speak volumes of your aspirations. Dave..go for it, Theres no reason why you can't improve on what
gamo has already started.
I want to make a air shot gun for quail.
My idea was  LOL my brain run riot on this one.
I was thinking of a PCP type of thing
I have a bent .22 barrel and a small 3000 psi cylinder
for the vavle I am thinking of a hi pressure 2 port
air valve with a button non latching shutel that would be come the trigger.

make a block for the barrel to pivot in screw the valve in to
the back of the block and then screw the cylinder into
the other end of the valve.
3000psi valves are quite bulky to handle the psi.
Aprox - 80mm x50mm x 25mm
a but cap on the cylinder and some type of pistol grip

Very crude but it would work!!!???
and it is a shot gun

of course, i could just get the extreme .22 and have paul machine out enough of the barrel for the shells to fit, and choke the barrel...the easy approach, wouldn't you say?  throw a red dot on it, and call it a day...not bad shot gun, and can still use it as a great rifle.  what thinks ya, paul?

what would you use for shooting it?  make your own casings, or use gamo's and reload em with bigger shot?

Would take the Gamo shellshots for a spin 2 see how they go.
I have tryed to make my own....used small dia drinking straws
cut to about 20mm, glued a cotton wool bud in one end when
dry filled with 1.5mm ball berrings and glued a bud in the other end.
Had no power and the straw ended up half way down the barrel.
But really have not put any real thought in to the shot

well, i've heard that the 9shot that gamo uses looses energy way too quickly, so it has to go bigger to work at longer ranges, and since we're going with a more powerful powerplant, we don't have to reduce the number of pellets we put in te shell...now its time to play around with ammo...

hmmm...noone has any input on just modifying the extreme barrel...do you guys think that the shot would hurts the rifling, or is the barrel hard enough to be ok using it like this?
