First question is pump or bottle?  Anywhere close to get a bottle filled?

If that gun had been a .22, she would be mine!!!!  Beautiful rifle congrats. Looks like you will need a hand pump or scuba set-up. I am not the one to give advice on this topic. My first PCP should be here on Tueday. Dano or Daved are the guys to talk to.

Good luck!

Congrats on the new shooter.  Just stepped into the darkside myself about a month ago.  Spent a lot of time researching tank vs pump.  Also went to a local dealer and got a first hand feel for the pump using one in the store to pump up a demo rifle.  After breaking a serious sweat and watching my pulse rate rise I ended up spending the bucks for a 4500 psi 88 cf carbon fiber tank from Airhog.  I'm in my 50s and figure a tank is cheaper than a heart attack.  Van at Airhog was very helpful answering all my questions both before and after the tank purchase.

The tank is  also Highly Recommended by my aging back and also is highly recommended by my trigger finger, which is being used a lot more since the effort of pumping has been eliminated by the tank!

Since I went darkside, the ease of shooting (and the fun of a new big boy toy) have caused my pellet consumption to rocket up!!  Believe me, if you want to sit down and fire 100+ shots regularly you DO NOT WANT to pump.  Just my 2 cents.

I am reading the manual now. the gun won't be here till Gene can get to the post office monday and mail it..

There are a lot of cautions in the filling section..   I would only use a tank..  I ain't pumping nothing.   I guess I need to start looking for a tank , valve, fittings, and a place to fill it...

This is going to be a real adventure...

Johnny i also got my first pcp rifle 6 months ago. Tried a pump, but after lots of cursing and a sore back i got a 100Cu 232 bar tank. My Bam50 is currently set up to a start fill of 2400psi and i shoot in down no about 1600psi. I get about 30-40 good shots starting at 22fpe and ending at 19fpe using JSB 10.3gr .177 pellets.  Thats more than enough shot sfor hunting. I fill her up. take her out and recharge her when i get home.

I would  love one of those Airhog 4500psi tanks, but realisticly our local Currency in Suth Africa just does not place it within my "reach" if i add all the taxes and shipping costs. Man you're lucky to live in the good ol US of A. THese Airhog tanks are ideal to carry into the field, as they are extremeley light. Try logging a 100 CU Steel tank around for a bit and you'll see what i mean. If the budget allows go for the tank setup.

Randall, The AA 410 fills to 2800 psi but I never filled her above 2600 psi. I could get 40 good shots at least on one fill. When I would fill it again the gauge was still in the Green. Beware of those 4500 psi cf tanks. If you have that kind of ching to spend you better make sure there is somone in the area that will fill her to at least 4300 psi. I have two 88cc 3000 psi tanks and have only had to fill them twice..:) Any scuba shop will fill your tanks for about $5.00. I even bought a 44cc 3000 psi tank for back up..:) You can buy a 88 cc 3000 psi tank and valve for around $150.00 new on sale. Thats what I did.

If you look for some of David Kirby's post on his Air Arms PCP's you will find alot of good useful real life information directly from a great source.

Thanks Gene...... Hey Johnny , That's one sweet rifle you're got there. It's a 12fpe and will not require a lot of air to give you hours of shooting . I have 2 carbines . One one them I shot through the Chrony this past week. On a 2700 psi fill ; I got 55+ shots at 790fps-810fps . If you will accept a 30 fps spread you can go to a 2800psi fill and get 75+ shots before you need to refill . A squirrel or paper target won't know the difference . I filled mine to 2750 today and shot a 56 target field target match and had plenty of shots left . With that said, an 80-88cf tank will be all you need as far as tank for filling . Look on Ebay for a high pressure yoke and a fill hose . http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Scuba-FILL-STATION-ADAPTER-AIR-NITRO-HPA-PAINTBALL_W0QQitemZ130262602335QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item130262602335&_trkparms=72%3A1205|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14   I like the braided steel coated fill lines http://www.paintballgear.ca/product/Stainless_Steel_Braided_Hose.html?manufacturers_id=146 ; but the regular ones work good too. I found these with Google help, I don't necessarily recommend them, as I haven't done business with them. I just showing you what you need . I would try to buy a used scuba tank from where ever you are planning on getting your fills , they will take care of you that because you have made an investment with them and they should treat you right. If they can't get you a used one , buy a new one as Gene said should run about $150 , it'll last you a lifetime. Tell them it's for an airgun and write it on the tank with a magic marker , ask them if they will over fill to 3100-3200psi . This will give you more fills . Most shops will do this if you ask them nicely . a 80cf tank with a 3200psi fill will give you 20 full fills to 2750psi shooting down to 1500psi before refilling . A 2600psi fill will give you 31 fills. An 88cf tank only gives you 3 mores fills at 2600psi than the 80cf tank. You will be spoiled with that rifle . And you got it for a heck of a deal. kirby

A truely good looking gun, can't seem to touch a new one these days for less than $1000.

I hand pump my S400, the last 200# or so are tough but do-able.  I have a Hill Pump that I am very happy with.  I am Even looking at making a pneumatic project to used 100# compressed air from my pancake compressor to do the pumping for me - you can buy 15" stroke air cylinders on-line.

Hi..reading this I remembered a few years ago I use to do a bit of deep wreak diving
so I had to mix air &  helium. I made a pump to add the He in to the tank at 3000psi
The unit would be great for PCPs. It was a Hyd ram mounted in a frame and pushed
by a 12 ton bottle jack. what I use to do was fill it to 3000psi from the He cyclinder
close the inlet valve then open a second valve that feed to the scuba tank & pump the jack
to push the He in to the scuba tank.
NOW if yer made the ram/jack unit you could fill it from a compresser to 100/120psi
then pump it in to the gun, with the right size ram you would only need 1 pump.
No efit / No sweat..but not very portable.

I gave it away when I got a bit old for 200+ ft dives.

Filling yoke to fit tank...You could use a scuba 1st stage and use the high pressure port"where the gauge hose conects to"
for the fill line and put a tap on one of the low pressure ports to blead the gun off after use.
High pressure port is at tank pressure.
low pressure port is at around 140psi.
you would only need a old stuffed one.
