Well, I posted here a few weeks ago with a question about squirrels jumping the gun, so to speak. After several evenings of punching paper, I discovered the inadequacies of the stock hinge setup on the Quest variants. My ordeal is posted in the "Shop"
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/airguns/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=11279&posts=17#M90143So, I was practicing as usual, shooting out of the barn at some paper 20 yds out and I heard the scruffling up a tree around the corner at my 9 o'clock, out of my line of sight, probably 40 feet away.
My house is on land that was a Tung Nut plantation a hundred years ago and the squirrels go after 'em like crack cocaine!
So, I made my way straight out front twenty yds and made a right, wiggling my way through the paths between clumps of trees to get 15 yards out from him and back over in line. After all that trouble, all I heard was silence. I sat my butt down and waited and waited.
Just when I was about to give up, I saw that distinct curl of a tail 20+ feet up. So I look through the Centerpoint and this guy was sprawled out...I mean on his belly, in a 90 degree fork in a Pine tree a** up against the trunk, tail curled up in parallel, all four legs hanging, two on each side. Cold Chillin'. Could have sworn he was staring right back at me.
Took a deep breath, I'm sitting with elbow on knee, pull my trigger ever so gently, and let a Gamo Hunter fly. Thwap, he drops straight dead. I surprised my self, since I've been shooting off a rest all this time.
Now he's really cold!
The pic is after rigour set in. My wife called me in for supper before I could take it!
