« on: November 03, 2008, 02:33:28 AM »

To all air gun addicks and others, A friend of mine has given me a Winchester 427 .22 air rifle to do some cosmetics to it . It was all rusty and scratched ,well I shined it up took off the rust ,but the power seemed very low to me

I need some info on maybe some springs or anything to make this gun perform better It is an old one but well built and sturdy. I would like to give him back as a suprise fixed and shooting strong

Thanks guys I know some one will have info

well, why don't you take the spring out, write up some stats on it, and see if jm has a spring that is similar...otherwise, i don't know what to tell you...never heard of this gun...i'm sure others will have more input.

Get some PURE silicone oil at a hobby shop and put several drops in through the transfer port (where the air comes out of the receiver.)  Then sit the gun on it's butt for several days to let it soak in.  These have leather seals and those tend to dry out over time.  If this doesn't bring the power back up, then it's time to take it down.  You are working on a Diana 27 that was sold as 427 under the Winchester badge.  Very, very nice mid-powered guns.
