I am new to this forum.  I stumbled accross it while I was looking for airgun reviews.  Cool site, loads of good info. I have been battling nutters for the last 16 years.  They like to raid my bird feeders all year long and then move into my attic in the fall.  Caught this guy today stocking up on my bait, errrrrr, birdseed:) when I got home from work and took him out with a Gamo Rocket.  Not sure I care for the Rockets, I bought them as a replacement for a tin of Predators I lost in the field (man I was mad at myself for losing them).  The Rocket took him out easliy but it was only a 10 yard shot.  The 2100 Classic is kind of a piece of junk but it has taken out well over 100 nutter-seed-stealers in the last 16 years.  Looking for something more powerful/accurate but having a hard time prying open my wallet when the 2100 still works.  Anyway, maybe someday a new RWS, Beeman, or even a Gamo.....

Nothing wrong with the 2100. Good pumper. Not top of the line like a Benjamin, but nowhere near bottom of the heap. I've had mine for 23 yrs. Killed quite a few tree rats with it. The Benjamin Sheridan 397 andr 392 are more powerful and very nicely made. Plus, being pneumatic, they are easy to shoot accurately. Heck, just go ahead and get a Big Ed tuned B50. Precharged Pneumatics are powerful and easier to shoot consistently than springers.

TPM, Who cares if the 2100 isn't a 'high-end' rifle worth $500. If it works and gets the desired results, keep shooting it!!! Sure it might not 'reach out and touch someone' past 2025 yards with a lethal blow, but it seems a good choice for close range pest control. When I hunt with my rifles, regardless of their power, I don't fool around too much, I get in as close as I can and "whack 'em". I've hit BT's out to 40 yards before, but it's been my best experience to close the gap and "git r don". Long range shooting is way cool, but that distance combined with the death-dance and scurrying around in the thick woods and under brush has lead to a few unfound kills.   tjk

Welcome to the GTA airgun forum....best AG forum on the web.  Excellent shot on the nutter with the vintage AG....a proven sniper from your post.  Not too familiar with all the differnt airguns around (Just got back into airgunning a few months ago...).....but that 2100 Classic looks like a Crosman 760 pumper I had a very long time ago.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.  I really have enjoyed reading the hunting posts on this forum. The 2100 Classic does work fine and when I say its a piece of junk I don't really mean it.  What is a pain is having to pump it up 10 times while watching the tree rat you just missed scurry across the tree tops.  It gets the job done but I would like a little more power and accuracy.  I also like to pick off the house sparrows that drive away all the cardinals and other songbirds I TRY to attract to my yard, and it works well for that too.  I live in the middle of a large city where there is no shortage of squirrels or house sparrows, makes for happy hunting:)

I just noticed something I should clarify.  maple and nutterhater are the same person, me.  I joined the forum as maple from my work computer and couldn't remember my password when I got home so I created a new username on my home computer, just so everyone knows, maple and nutterhater are one and the same.

Yep, I still like mine, 23 years later.
