Gamo 1000 chisel lockup measurements and question.
« on: November 12, 2008, 10:39:59 AM »
How is the fit supposed to be?  My lockup pin measures .087", the hole in the breach is .095 side to side and .097" top to bottom.  Is this enough wear to cause the lockup to be inconsistant?  Is there supposed to be some clearance, or would tighter more precision be the way to go?  Also, when looking at the action from the fork side, the chisel appears to be rotated, the flat not being perpendicular to the vertical center line of the action.  How is that part of the lockup removed from the action?

Resolved!  The lockup was causing the barrel to shift low when fired, even though you could not move it easily otherwise.  I was able to construct a shim made from .005" aluminum to support the lower surface of the lockup.  Since then the gun is spot on every shot.  Next will be a possible rebore and bushing of the lockup.
