Back to basics
« on: November 21, 2008, 10:36:13 AM »
With the CO2 debacle I had yesterday, I figured I'd get back to my TT 'd b26-2.  She's been a little under utilized lately with all the new additions.  I shot her a bit last night at my range to make sure she was still sighted in and she didn't dissapoint.  Today being the last day of my little mini vacation, I figured I take another shot at the strong nutter population.  I sat in my shooting window, and within minutes was treated to a very large male nutter making his way across my back fence and towards the garbage.  It seems no matter how I seal those things, Ive been using a brick to secure the top into place, they find a way to sneak into the smallest holes.  This one jumped on the garbage can and started grooming himself, bad timing.  I lined up a shot and let loose with a predator that found its mark right in front of the right eye.   Going to retrieve my quarry, I found a clean entry wound and a fairly large exit wound in the middle of the body. The exit wound had a bit of entrails coming out, and lo and behold, the red polymer tip in the middle of the mess.  I decided to do a bit of an autopsy, as I still can't bring myself to eat a city tree rat.  Country, sure, but these guys make their living scavenging in and around garbage cans.  The predator entered in front of the right eye cleanly, and made a clean line throught the right side of the body and sort of changed trajectory after hitting the spine and bounced out of the side of the body creating a large exit wound.  Devestating is all I can say.  BTW this is the biggest squirrel I've gotten yet.

Good shooting.....

Yup, those predators certainly do get the job done :)

They are my primary hunting pellet and they've never let me down......

Thanks fellas.  I just realized I can never let my wife see this pic.  I've got a big hairy nutter on her restaurant grade stainless steel prep Island.  She just came in the room asking me a question, and I had to quickly do the dirty picture shuffle lol.

Nice shot!  I would not imagine the B26-2 has enough power to shoot a pellet through the head and exit half way down the body but then again it depends on the distance too.  The Predators are amazing too.  That's some powerful B26 you got there.  Very nice gun and the nutter is certainly big & fat!  Keep wacking them :)

Yeah Harry, I actually thought that it might be the squirrel I hit with the tomcat the day before.  The kicker though was the red polymer tip in the exit wound.  I've shot quite a few vermin with the 26/predator combo, and more often than not, I don't find an exit wound, so this was an oddity.  I really wasn't that close, it was a normal window shot, which is a little better than 20 yds.  After doing an autopsy it appeared that the pellet went through a path of least resistance.  At any rate, the pellet was absolutely devestating to the flesh of this nutter.
