Condor or Talon
« on: November 23, 2008, 09:51:09 AM »
Does anyone have any info on either of these to C02 models. I'm thinking of purchasing
one of them, and wondering if there were any problems with them. Any tidbits would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks ............LOU

There is allot of information on the GTA in threads and post about the Talon and Condor. Many members have all the different flavors..:) David Kirby has allot of experience with the Talon Co2 version. Also DanoTX has owned one or two of them also. He used make nice stocks for them.I am sure others will chime in and help you sort things out. Gene

Never owned the CO2 versions, but I owned a regular PCP version of the TalonSS, no huge issues with them that I know of.  The only real issue/non-issue that I'm aware of with the CO2 versions is that the power adjuster doesn't make a huge difference in power range.  The Condor will give you slightly more power on CO2 because it has a 24" barrel compared to the Talon with an 18" barrel and the SS with a 12" barrel, but then all of the barrels are interchangeable with every frame version.  I don't know if you've found it yet or not, but there is Talonairgun.com with loads of Air Force gun info.  As Gene said I used to make some wood for those guns, and spent a fair amount of time tweaking these guns, they can be a bunch of fun.

I have a Condor as well but only use air . There is another difference between the talon and condor as well and that is the stricker weight is heavier in the condor as well as the  high flow tank on the condor . These two items make the major difference between the two rifles . If Kirby can not help you and no one else speaks up I will post Air Forces address and the Talon addresss for you . Good luck .Marvin

I have the Condor, four years , I desided to get the co2 conversion. Great for plinking and accurate I would say to 50 yards w/1.5 groups. I am pro Condor because of the power. co2 is cool and eaasy

I missed this before , Sorry about that. Yes I did have a couple of Talons and used CO2 in both of them . Dan is correct about the power adjuster not having much effect when using CO2 ; if you turn it up too high you'll get snow coming out the barrel and with no gain in speed . I enjoyed shooting the SS on CO2 . The 18" talon was just too loud , even on CO2 for my backyard . Both were .177 and IIRC the SS with the 12" barrel got around 675 fps and the 18" barrel would get around 750fps. This was during warm weather . Also with CO2 in cooler weather especially , you need to let the gun warm between shoots to allow the CO2 to stabilize or your speed will go down. We're talking 20-30 seconds is what I'd give it. The biggest problem I had with Talons is having the bottle for a cheekrest , making it necessary to use taller thanI wanted to use rings. kirby

You can see the speed steadily drop . If you had given it a little time between shots , the ES would have been a lot better . I used to use a 9 oz. bottle because with it's smaller diameter , it helped some with the high ring problem. IIRC I'd get several hundred shots from a 9 oz. bottle. Very economical. kirby

Wow Thanks everyone that was Great info. I guess I made the rite choice. I ordered the Talon ss in 177, I also ordered the 22 cal
Barrel. I am concerned with the noise. From what I leaned it is a little loud, so my next task will be to build a noise suppressor.
I should have it within the week. Thanks again to everyone and have a Great Christmas...........LOU
