Nice shot! I am just wondering about the chances one has to take with such a shot. I mean, considering the human factor involved, a wrong shot would have left the animal withering in pain with a pellet in his head. Such animals survive at times (yes, they are tough) and go mad, biting, killing anything they come across. Not a chance I would wanna take.

That's a choice that each hunter must make when dealing with a situation like this. Skill, shot placement, shooter and ammo used all come into play and all can be right on. All that's left is the choice of the hunter to pull the trigger or not and then to deal with the consequences of doing so. I myself would have made the same choice as this hunter and do everything within my power to do it successfully, the yote took something from them and he returned the favor......successfully. Ed

I'am new to this forum and my wife can't get me away from the computer.  Great shot!  Last month my wifes cat was half eaten by a surburban coyote.  Made her cry for a week.  Found her (the cat) in a ditch behind the house with just a head and one forearm.  Collar still on her.  Very sad.  I live in Tucson Arizona where the coyotes are thick in suburban Tucson.  Only thing for me to say is "coyotes beware".  I have a RWS 54 in .22 cal. and its my turn.

Welcome Paul!  The GTA is a great place to be.  Sorry about your pet.  That 54 should do nicely, especially if you use the JSB Predators.  We will look forward to the follow up and your future posts.

There is no way I would have tried that shot with a springer. I am just not very confident with my skill overcoming the twang and recoil.

This is a testament to your ability. Good kill.

Deric let me tell ya I felt the same way till I had my gun tuned and got the GRT111 trigger for it.. I drive 1/4 inch nail heads now at 22 yards.. Its only because I took the time and funds to set the weapon up right..  From the factory I would have never taken that shot... My confidence level has increased 100% since i had the mods done...
I feel as tho there is no critter that can escape the wrath  now....

Yeah ditto on the GRT-III. I have that upgrade as well. The gun isn't complete without it.

My uncle used to kill feral cats with a Crosman760 and BBs. Headshots, of course.

Yes you guys are right.  My 54 was tuned by John in PA. and it's 100% better.  Saw the coyote yesterday in the ditch, however did not have a good head shot or you would be looking at pictures this morning.  Besides it was Thanksgiving and we have family staying with us.

Very nice shot!  For a springer, especially .177, the shot placement had to be almost perfect to kill him, and you did!  Sorry to hear about your dog though:(   There are coyote's at my grandparents house, if they ever get within range they had better look out, my condor will be waiting!  Good shooting!  I would have never thought .177 would have done that, however since you used a predator it doesn't surprise me too much as they are excellent pellets.
