Benjamin 'Super Streak'
« on: November 29, 2008, 02:20:47 PM »
If you want to try something different. Try a Super Streak. I was curious about the claimed muzzle velocity and how sweet it looked. I think these things are great. Like all gamo airguns the trigger sucked, a "Charlie Da Tuna" trigger fixed that easily enough. This thing was 50" long, way too barrel heavy. I took 6" off the barrel (.56 lbs including suppressor) that  brought it down to a little under 54" total length, a little over 9lbs, which helped shooting off hand a lot.
BENJAMIN did not say a word but, the Super Streaks have  functional suppressors. After I bobbed the barrel, the volume increased at least X2. I do not think I gave up any velocity. I got 891fps with 14 gr crosman points after turning it into a carbine/short rifle 161/2" barrel. I ordered some Beeman Lazer pellets, I bet anything I will get 1000fps or 1100fps.
With the 16" barrel it also qualifies as body building equipment. I have no way to measure the cocking effort but I would guess at least 50 lbs or better. You will not have to worry about your kids shooting this thing. My 15 year old grandson can just barley cock it. I love it.
Now that it is getting broken in, it will consistanty split coke cans full of H2O from top to bottom on both sides at 80 long paces, if I do my part. I think I can take our humongus West Texas jackrabbits at a 100yds.
When you figure in the most excellent Centerpoint 4-16 scope, I think I got my moneys worth less than $300.00. WOW!!!  Oh Yeah, Be sure to have a #3 phillips handy, the stock screws loosen often. "A small price to pay for the power it makes".
If I can ever get back on this site, you guys gave me an insane password. I will let you in on some of my other works in progress. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving

Welcome to the GTA Paul. You've found a great place. I haven't shot the SS, but I'm going to see what my father's Falcon Hunter will do tomorrow. He's pretty happy with that magnum springer. You will have to post some pics in the hunting gate of your killer rabbits.

I was really suprised how well I do like the SS. If I ever get any time off, I will most certainly take out some of those big boogers. If you were closer I woujd say come on by and check it out. There sre no holidays in the oilfield. I'm not *_*_*_*_*_*ing, if it was not for my great job I woujd not be able to afford these awsome toys.
I am in the process of finishing a well right now. If you try to get in touch with me, I will not have access to a computer for probably a couple of days when we kick off a new well.
I have read good and bad about the SS. The guy who took my order at Airguns of Arizona tried to talk me out of buying it so I bought the SS and a Discoveryand a BSA pump. Which is pretty neat  in itself. I guess I am a springer guy, at least I can work on my spring guns. I cannot say that about a PCP. Have a good one.

RCnMo,

The SS is a knockoff of the Gamo 1250. The Chinese did there homework. I have owned this airgun for over a month and have not torn it down, that says a lot. I am pretty much of the opinion that, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Merry Christmas,

its not an exact knockoff...the parts i'm pretty sure are actually different sizes, with the exception of the trigger...not too sure though...

Dave, let me ask you something? How do youbase your findings about the differences between the SuperStreak and the Gamo 1250?

Dave is right, it's not a knockoff of the Gamo 1250. There is quite a difference.

Dave,
When I made that statement about the Super Streak 1500 being a Gamo 1250 knockoff, I was just passing along what Rich Imhoff  "Rich of Mich"  told me earlier today. Dave, some of these guys have been doing this for decades so, I listen, when they are willing to share any information.
By the way I chronographed my SS a couple of days ago, now that it has been at least partly broken in. I had to get some light pellets also. Crosman 14.5gr Field Targets 890fps, Beeman Lazer 14.0gr 970fps, Beeman Silver Eagles 12.0gr 1080fps and Gamo Rapters 12.3gr 1050fps.
When I am checking velocities I always shoot at targets to get an idea of the accuracy at the same time. The Lazers were the best of the light led pellets with what I would call, reasonable
field accuracy.

My little collection is: Beeman Webley C1, HW80 imported from Canada with Turbo Spring also from Canada, Beeman Diana Model 10 Match airpistol, Crosman Skannaker Match airpistol my first rechargable CO2 gun, Gamo Big Cat 1200 which got me back into airguns,Benjamin SS1500,Benjamin Discovery my first high pressure PCP. Next possibly a Gamo Hunter Extreme.

Merry Christmas

Bob,
I was just passing along what I was told. There are so many airguns that are so close in specs and performance, that it all gets kind of cloudy at best. To me, what it all comes down to is go with what works for you.

Merry Christmas,
Paul

Yes, you are right Paul. It's pretty difficult to keep up with all of it for sure. But what I meant, and it goes with what you said, the basic design principles of the two are similar but they are different. Ask Gene....hee...hee..

Thanks Paul

yea, bob, i'm sure you could be more specific than i can, but i'm pretty sure the piston sizes are different, not sure about the stroke, or spring though...

and hopefully there will be parts available for the benji, since crosman usually sells parts for their guns...but so far, no such luck...
