The Beeman RamJet Demise...
« on: December 03, 2008, 09:14:07 AM »
So I just got off the phone with Rafael at Beeman.  A good friend in the industry sent me some .22 RamJets to try-out in my Weihrauch.  I went home for lunch today to check my mailbox because I knew they'd be here soon and when I opened the box- there they were.  Time is short with any lunch break so I grabbed the HW90, loaded a few up and fired several to see how they perform.  They grouped really, really well and so I took it upon myself to call Beeman to find out what happened.

Apparently the Japanese party that was producing these pellets for Beeman faltered when the owner of the facility died.  His son(names unknown) continued production but cut corners and when Beeman got their hands on the post-death batch they were not impressed at all with what they were seeing.  From what I understand that Japanese party is still producing the same form of pellet for other namesake labels but as Rafael at Beeman put it, "they're trying to slap a Ferrari logo on a FORD".  I guess that about sums it up.

So I guess we won't be seeing these great pellets anymore.  Kind of a bummer because I've finally found a decent pellet that this HW90 likes and they've become obsolete.

Isn't that the way it works though?  We get our hands on something good out there and it dies young, thus becoming immortal in the eyes of many.

Yeah, it sucks when you find something your guns like and it disappears.  My 350 Mag isn't pellet picky at all but this thing LOVES Polymags and JSB Exacts!  Hope they won't cease production anytime soon.
