Is the B28 barrel choked?

I am toying with the idea of chopping a few inches off of mine, but I do not want ruin the accuracy if it is relying on a choke. I saw a photo of a guy's 350 that had been chopped, and it seemed a much more manageable length. I would welcome the input of the more knowlegeable members as to the pros and cons of such an action.

i think if you do a proper recrown, you have nothing to worry about...just don't go takin feet off of it, lol!

It is going to make it a little more effort to cock, since you are cutting off leverage as well. Not a deal killer, just a consideration.

I had considered that. Currently it is not as hard to cock as my Stingray carbine, so I figured I could take off a few inches without making it a real chore. I am mostly concerned about the accuracy issue. I understand that there might be a power loss as well.

shouldn't be a power loss...first i would check your barrel...push a pellet through the barrel, and if it is too light near the middle of the barrel(like on rws guns) then the only way i would cut it is if i could choke it...but if its uniform resistance through the barrel, then you should be fine.

with springers, the pellet is its fastest at 10 inches down the barrel...after that, it slows down...but don't make it 10 inches...it'll be much more harsh shooting then...keep in mind that this effects gun harmonics and everything...

but, one rule for chopping, is MAKE SURE YOU CAN DO A GOOD CROWN!

The 28 I have is tight at the breech then loose up to the muzzle then tight about one pellet length from the end so I fugure it's got a choke.......

I plan on cutting the barrel back on my B28. The lock time is just way too long with this gun. My plans are to take about 6" - 7" off the barrel and install an aluminum shroud/brake to keep the cocking leverage. It has a pretty standard 16mm barrel. Any suggestions as to who can make the shroud/brake.

I did not notice a choke in mine. I emailed Xisco just to check and they said it was not choked.
