Question about JSB pellets
« on: November 28, 2006, 07:40:14 AM »
My CFX loves the JSB exacts, however I've run out and I'm having a difficult time in finding them...seems that everyone is out of stock.  Anyway, one place suggested the Exact heavies, I've never tried them and was wondering if anyone here has any experience with these.  I have  JM spring in this gun so I'm not really worried about the heavies "eating" the spring.
Thanks

Mark

Rule of thumb, keep em under 10 gr for .177 or you may damage or break your spring..:)

Hey, Mark,

My CFX also likes Exacts, and has never shot heavier pellets worth a damn.  Have you tried Airguns Only in Canada?  They currently have Exacts for $58.32 per sleeve of 10.  They also stock different head diameters ( mine prefers 4.52 mm, check label on back of tin), and will ship mixed sleeves if you want to do some testing.  I think shipping was about $18, and I got them in a week.  HTH.

I get all my JSB's from Illingworth's(airguns only). Last time I was there they had a couple pallets of JSB and H&N pellets, pleanty in stock. Lucky me I'm only an hour and a half away so my addiction is easily fed! LOL!  HTH,

Thanks eveyone.  I had done business with scott a couple of years ago when I purchased my Hawke Airmax scope from Illingworth Imports.  I didn't even think of checking there.  I may have to go the mix and match route because I'm not sure of the head diameter of these pellets.  I had gotten them as a sample and as it turned out, grouped better in my CFX than any other pellet I had. I know the weight, but not the head diameter size......I'll try my micrometer and see if I can figure it out.
BTW, how well do the CPL's group with your CFX's??   Mine isn't too bad.

I've tried 4.51, 4.52, and 4.53 Exacts in most of my .177 springers, and the only difference in most cases was a slight increase/decrease in velocity and a shift in POI. Accuracy was for the most part the same between sizes. I have only one rifle that is 'picky' about the size of Exact it shoots best, and that's my .22cal HW95, it does really well with 5.52 but not so good with 5.51, both pellet sizes were from the same lot so for my 95 size does matter! LOL! HTH,

P.S. I forgot to mention that I've settled on 4.52 Exacts to keep things simple.

My CFX hates anything Crosman, come to think of it, so does my 350.  So maybe it's just me :-)!  Regarding the Exacts, look on the back of the tin.  All of mine have a small sticker, looks like some kind of stock number, but if you look close, you'll see 4.50, 4.51, etc.  My rifle definitely gets the best accuracy and velocity with 4.52's, 4.53's are almost as good, but a little slower, the others just plain suck.  Interestingly enough, a freind of mine has a S1K that has the exact same preference in pellets.  Shoots almost the same, too.  2nd best pellet in mine is probably the RWS Superdomes.  Good luck.
