Christmas eve hunting spectacular
« on: December 24, 2008, 01:29:25 AM »
So after an all nighter with an old buddy in town from High School, I'm awoken atsunriseto the loud rasp of multiple crows outside my window. I jump up and start scanning the field below my driveway and nothing. I sneak downstairs with the whisper cocked and loaded and spot em! There's 4 HUGE crows about 25 yds from my front door. I crack open the blinds to a downstairs bedroom and realize I cant open the window without spooking them all away. I SLOWLY crack the front door and by the time I get my gun shouldered they've spooked and are flying away. I cleared my gun and walked upstairs dissapointed...Epic crow hunt fail! We're doing a little squirrel hunting this afternoon down by the Catawaba River. Hopefully I'll have something to take to Christmas Eve dinner. These darn crows are driving me nuts and they're smarter than the average bird.

I 've kind of given up on them.  Usually when I don't expect to shoot one, that's when I 'm successful.. but they hardly come now.. so I pretend I 'm ignoring them  :emoticon:

Lets put it this way, if I get more than last year which was only 3, I 'll be ecstatic.  They 're extremely hard to get.  I only have 2 to go this season to beat my "high score"   8)

Well the missed crow connection this morning was long forgotten after taking a nice nutter just before sunset. He was about 20 yards out and staring straight at me. I put a Gamo mag hunter right between his eyes and he dropped about 40 feet out of an oak tree. This is my first nutter with the new whisper VH. Enjoy the pics and merry Christmas to all! Big feller is a little camera shy
