What A Difference A Day Makes
« on: December 26, 2008, 01:46:01 PM »
Still amped from my Christmas Eve hunt, I was up at 6 this morning loading the truck and heading out. When I arrived at my location I noticed something that I had not the other day. First, I could hear gun shots nearby, second someone had made a makeshift bridge crossing a ditch right where I hunted the other day. The area where I usually go is a property adjacent to my wife's Grandmother's house. I have been going there for several years and have never seen anyone, which is one reason I liked the area so much. Several hundred yards behind the property construction has begun for what appears to be condos. Anyway, I was out for two hours with only the sparrows and finches to keep me company. I finally packed it up and called it a day. One thing is very apparent, I am going to have to find me a new place to hunt. I will say that it was not a complete loss. I enjoy anytime I am able to be outdoors. There is no comparison to(usually) the peace and solitude of the woods. It has a very calming effect. Besides that's the nature of hunting, some days are good and some not so good. And even though I never pulled the trigger, I could not think of any other place I would rather be on my day off.

I know how you feel,,,,, being in the woods does wonders for my stress levels and I can't think of any other place I'd rather spend time.

As for the condos,,,,,,, unfortunately I know how you feel about that too :(   Over the years I've lost many good hunting spots to what they call "development".  Oh well,,,, I guess you just can't stop the wheels of progress......  unfortunately....

Sorry to hear that guys...I feel your pain.  The hills surrounding my house used to be wide open spaces for Dirt bikes, rabbit hunting, flying kites, whatever.  Now there are homes there that sprung up seemingly overnight.  I have to drive 20 minutes to get to a place to shoot now, whereas i used to shoot from my back yard (airguns only).  I now treasure the time I can be in the great outdoors, no matter what I'm doing.
Go git \'em!

Love my RWS 350 Magnum Feuerkraft Pro Compact!

Yes they just keep pushing Ma Nature out of the way :0  and she's not only the critter's means of survival but mine. I'll just keep moving higher up and deeper into the wood's, I need my hunting meditation spot's. :) Ed
