10M match shooting question...
« on: December 03, 2006, 04:34:56 PM »
I seem to recall someone answering this question before, seems like it was =ed, but I don't remember the answer.  When you shoot 10 meters, I assume the measurement is from the face of the target to what?  The shooters feet, or the end of the guns muzzle?  Or is it like darts, with a specific height to the bull, and the distance is measured from the center of the bull to the shooting line?  TIA.

This info is from the 1984 NRA international pistol rules so if nothing has changed the measurements are:
Ground to center of target = 140 cms.(55 in.) +/- 20 cms.(8 in.).
Distance = 10 meters +/- 0.05 m (2 in.). Distance is measured from the face of the target to the firing line (that point beyond which the competitor may not place any part of his foreward foot).

So if you could hold up (steady) a 9 1/2 meter barrel, you'd be totally unconcerned about wind.

.

I was told, and believe I read, that the feet, or any part of the body that touches the ground, have to be behind the line
