Great idea, I've got a lathe my dad gave me sitting in the corner of my shop gathering dust. Go ahead give me reason to pull it out :)

Are a lot of us with mini-lathes/mills...most are learning the hard way (but I do have to say, learning that was is proably how most people learn metal work).  Just learning how to grind good lathe bits or making a 1/2 round reamer is a big education.

Something geared to air guns, but paying attention to the way it's done rather than just the outcome would be appreciated (and proably not step on the toes of the commercial interrest here).

Looks like there is some interests here..:) I just got back from the  mountains and will be talking to Bob this week some more about the Machinest Gate.
I think we need to set up a protocol for what is to be discussed and what is not to be discussed in this new Forum. I have plenty of room on my server so there is no problem with that. I just want the members here to enjoy, learn and help each other without any conflicts of interests.

It would be a great platform for those of you who have the knowledge with the tools of the trade and those of you who are just getting started and want more help with setups, tools, materials, etc etc. One of Bob and my concerns is Safety. I know we can't have everything but the safety and well being of all of us here and even new members. I have very little experience in this trade and it has been 40 years since I have even touched a mill or lathe. So I would be no good in overlooking this forum. We need someone who is knowledgable that has not fallen into any bad habbits..:) Someone who has an open mind and allot of patients..  :) I know that Bob and me have to get together and figuer out the best way to oversee the whole thing and be able to work with the Moderator or moderators of this forum/

Would like some more input on protocol. Rules, guidlines and such.

Thanks
Gene
