Thanks Johnny and PeakChick.  I'll call them and see if they will let me do that.  Let you know after I call.

Thanks again,

AA410s carbine or BSA Scorpion T-10....
« Reply #61 on: January 16, 2009, 05:18:40 AM »

It`s like the age old question.....who do you save from drowning if you can only save one? Your wife or your child?

That`s a really hard decision. I LUV them both. Both are .22 10-shot repeaters, very accurate and gives 40 shots at high power. The AA410s carbine is lighter and shorter and have adjustable power...so I can go to the lowest setting and shoot maybe 60+ shots. And walk around in the bush for hours without feeling fatiqued. But on high power it`s louder than the Scorpion T-10. The T-10 have more velocity/power due to it`s longer barrel....but no power adjustment....so it`s high power all the time.....gives 40 hard shots, but so quiet due to the bull barrel (I think)....that it`s like the sound of someone spitting (I`m not exaggerating). For me the premiem is on quietness....so I would choose the BSA Scorpion T-10.

By comparison, my AA S410 ERB .22 with full-sized shrouded barrel is a littel quieter than my BSA Scorpion Carbine .177 with shrouded barrel.  So I conclude that perhaps it is the carbine / short barrel, and not the BSA vs AA model that accounts to some degree for the difference.  And in general, for the same rifle, the .22 should be just a bit quieter than the .177 (I have been told).  But in my experience, the difference in how loud the AA-S410 is vs. the BSA Scorpion is not that much, and probably not enough to be the deciding factor if you like one rifle better than the other.  And for that matter, having shot Gene's FX Cyclone, it isn't very loud, either.

Yes I think so too....a longer shrouded barrel will/might lower the noise level.  Boy, we sure are making PelletPaul`s head spinning  ha ha.  So Many Guns...So Less Time!!!!

I think PelletPaul should buy one of each, but then he will stil be left with the thorny problem of whether or not to get the full barrel length version or the carbine, and in which caliber.

Ok I could not hold back any longer... I pulled the trigger and hope to be squeezing the trigger of my First PCP shortly!  I made the best choice based on what the fine folks here provided as well as some info I have gathered with some other searching.  I will post pictures as soon as IT arrives... ;)

I love the looks of a fine sporter rifle and the benefits of SELECTION, the accuracy and details that this one offers.  .22 PCP coming soon!

Paul good luck with your selection...

Congratulations!  I bet you feel like a kid on Christmas morning.  Now the days will be longer as you await the arrival of your new PCP.  I read your post twice and did not see WHAT you bought.  Is it a secret?  I bet I can guess?  Cyclone.  Have you bought your support for it?

Hi Paul.

Actually I ordered a AA 410 Walnut.  After all the reviews and my personal opinion of which I favored the most.  I just could not talk myself out of the AA 410.  The Cyclone was a very high consideration, but I just love the looks of the 410.  I see everyone favored them fairly equally, and I'm sure that either of them I would be extremely happy with.  I have a local buddy that is a field target shooter that is going to let me borrow one of his tanks for a while.  The other high on my list was the BSA R-10 with those new features, but the June delivery that I read on the yellow forum completely shut that idea down.  I know it is sad to already be thinking of a second purchase, but if I like this PCP stuff as much as I believe I will...   The R-10 is going to be on my birthday list ideas... ;-)

How about you?  Have you made a date to go visit AOA?  If I were not geographically challenged, I would make that type of drive myself for a visit.  I know myself it was very difficult to spend this kind of money on an Airgun that I have never touched...  I know it would have probably been a good idea for me to visit a local Field shoot, but I just could not match up my schedule to make one of the shoots to visit.  But that is another idea for you to visit a field target shoot to take a look at a few different options.  I have heard in addition to the super field setups there are some guys that will go out with the type of Airguns we are looking at.  But again, I have no clue, just reading results to see those flavors being shot near me.

Good luck... Let us know what you choose?  As I said, I dont think any of there would be a bad decision.  I'm sure they are all fantastic PCP's.

Congrats, Johnny.  Let us know when it gets here and how it shoots.  Try it out at the lower power settings too.  I am interested to hear you opinion.

....that all the talk of PCP's sucked another into the "DARK SIDE".....heh heh.

When Johnny wrote he pushed da button on one of them....my first thought were Cyclone, AA410or the T-10....all very accurate pcp's in the mid-price range...multi-shots and gives 40+ shots. Congrats on your new purchase.

Outstanding Johnny.  What a beautiful gun in walnut.  The PCP (Darksiders) crowd will be proud especially PeakChick.  They converted another springer and they are about to convert me also.  I will await for the owner of AOA to return from Florida Tuesday and make arraignments to spend a day in Gilbert, AZ shooting what they let me shoot.  Meantime I will start looking for my support, scope, air tank etc.
What scope are you putting on her?  Now there is a whole new world when you talk about, scoping.  I've been shopping the yellow and there is scopes I never heard off.  Heck you can spend as much money on a scope as you do on a gun if you want.  I need to understand a little more about scopes.  I have scopes for my springer but nothing like they put on PCP's.  I will be going from a Volkswagen to a Lexus.
I will retire in 3 months from building missiles for 28 years at Raytheon formally Hughes Aircraft Company.  My wife and I will travel across this great nation in a fifth wheel, so my air guns must be in order for the trip.  Then off to Costa Rica for four months.  They government will let me bring my pellet guns with me.  So I'll be hunting in the jungles of Costa Rica.  So I need the best PCP I can find.
Again Johnny Congratulations on your new purchase of a AA 410 in Walnut.

Daystate Air Wolf
« Reply #73 on: January 18, 2009, 03:40:30 PM »

Daystate Air Wolf, not the FAC version. The 12 ft. lb. version.

Regulated by computer, you would not believe how many good shots you can get from one of them before you have to recharge.

Pin point accuracy. I don't like the stocks that much but I think that is a matter of taste. The Brits like them right well, if the magazines I subscribe to tell the truth.

Now if price DID matter I'd be looking at a BSA, maybe a nice Ultra or Ultra multi-shot. That would be good for a carbine. If you want a rifle vice a carbine, I'd look at the BSA Scorpion. I think that a lot of folks here like the S410 or S510 rifles.

There are a LOT of nice rifles out there these days. Nobody could afford to evaluate them all.

erskine - There is a Daystate MK3 for sale on the yellow this morning.  I have emailed the person asking about performance and some other things.  Retail for $1899 and he wants $1400.  Looks to be a few years old.  Friday I go to AOA and they said I could shoot any of their guns.  I have my choices narrowed down to Daystate's, FX Cyclone and AA S410.  I'am a hunter and 12fpe does not work for me.
