Clickthe "Reply" button on the top left of message. After you write up your message go click the "Attach a file after posting" box and then click on "Submit" box. This will bring you to another screen where you can choose your file (photo) from "Browse" box. After you choose your file click on "Submit" and voila. Since we're talking about PCP's...I'm posting my AA410s carbine and BSA Scorpion T-10 for all to enjoy.

Not much I can add to what Mike has already said.  I've owned a lot of rifles in the last 3 years, I'd have to rate the Cyclone as the very best of a pretty good bunch.  Like Mike, I wanted a synthetic stock because I expected it to see lots of field use.  And like Gene, I'm finding I like the lighter weight rifles.  Like Mike said, these rifles are very quiet, especially on low or medium power.  High power has a bit of snap to it, but truly, the pellet hitting the target is noisier.  Oh, and the "full power only" idea is questionable, at best.  I'm not shooting my S400 because the power isn't adjustable, and this time of year, I shoot indoors at 10 yards.  Who wants to shoot 20+ fpe at only 10 yards?  I can turn the Cyclone down to about 10 fpe, it's still boringly accurate at only 10 yards, but at least I'm not so concerned about shooting out the back of my pellet trap.  This is a tough gun to beat, in any company.  Later.

Gamo - good looking guns for sure.  Which do you like the best 410 or Scorpion?
Dave - Does your POI change when adjusting to different power settings?

While windage doesn't appreciably change, vertical POI *must* change as velocities change.

That's how I tried to add a photo, but after I did that I got a message in red letters that said my file size was to big for this site to handle because it must be running on windows 2003. I will try again.

This is the message I get - Upload failed. Most likely this forum runs on Windows 2003 which by default only allows attachments smaller than 200kb. This can easily be solved by editing the MetaBase. xml on the server. Modify the AspMaxRequestEntityAllowed value to the desired value.

Paul,

I would like to be in your shoes.  You are only 2 hours from AOA.  I would for sure make the drive to put my hands on the available options... IF... I had that opportunity only 2 hours from me.   Maybe they have a demo that you could try?  Have you considered driving up there to visit in person?

Each of the GTA forums has a size limit for attachments - i think 150KB is the largest photo attachment allowed on the GTA forums, and smaller than than in some of the forum rooms.  You can either set your digital camera to a lower resolution to decrease your file size, or you can use your digital imaging software to "export" the very high resolution photos in a low res jpeg format and restrict the size to 800 x 600 px.  Most of my pictures are shot with an Olympus E-Volt 400 and the initial file sizes are very large - 5 or 6 MB.  I try to crop all my shots, then export the file to the desktop as a low res jpeg with maximum pixel dimension of 1000.  This usually gives perfectly adequate resolution for posts, a nice, large picture, and file sizes that are usually around 50 -75KB which post just fine.  I am running Mac OS-X 10.5.6 on a Mac AirBook and using iPhoto, but I believe there are similar options on most of the PC-based imaging software programs.  Once you have a properly sized photo on the desktop (or any directory/file location you choose), then enter the text of your post and click the box for "Attach a file after posting" in the bottom left of the window then click on submit.  Next you will see a window with a dialog box that has a "choose photo" option.  Click on that and navigate to the location of the resized image file you want to attach.  Click on "choose" and then click on "submit".  You can choose and submit multiple photos and edit the order if you wish.  Then click on "return to thread" and you are done.

Jonny's got a great point Paul. I wasn't clever enough to see where you lived. Take the drive from Tucson to Gilbert and vist AoA. They will let you inspect and shoot any of the rifles they have in the store. What a great opportunity and solves a lot of your pre-purchase angst.

Practical Zero-ing at muliple ranges....
« Reply #59 on: January 16, 2009, 04:02:48 AM »
My approach is simple.

I have it sighted for zero-zero at 15 yards, Low Power.  I use that to (literally) plink flies w/ confidence  out to ~30 yards since I'm only 1-fly high at midcourse.  (I have mucho fly-power for mucho-mucho flies w/ that arrangement.)

I have the combined Low/MediumHigh Power trajectories taped to the (synthetic) stock.  If/when I want more (power/range) I just move the power lever to closest probable range and adjust for any difference using +/- 1 Mil-Dot windage.  I can relaibly be within a 1/4 inch all the way out to 60 yards that way.

post:  I actually went out and calibrated the the BC for the Heavy JSB pellet  by shooting at several different known ranges w/ known muzzle velocities, and then matching a best-fit ChairGun curve by entering assumed BCs until I got a curve match.  That determined the true BC, ...and at that point the curves all fell into place for all Powers.  It's been pretty relaible.
