Big-Bore
« on: January 13, 2009, 09:06:23 PM »
Are there any "big-bore" air-gunners out there?  I went to LASSO...and got hooked.  I like the idea of shooting 300gr-500gr .452-.458 "pellets" at 300 yards.  And what a hunting gun.  I have on order from Leroy a .452 Gargoyle PCP.  It uses 3500psi, and will drive a 45 colt lead bullet to 950fps.  When I shot the big bore...it had a kick, and sounded like a 22 long rifle.  I hope to get a Quackenbush big bore in .457 or 58 cal.  There is just something about an air rifle that shoots like a big Sharps single shot...but no stink, and mess!

Doug I have a small big bore 201's but J is the one with the big bores on this forum that I know of and he has been silent for some time now . They are fun but they sure do eat a lot of air . I shoot .358 , 158 grain semi wad cutters in mine . But in truth since I now have the A.F. Condor I would sell the Career if things were right . But that's me .Marvin

Hope to see more of you and your BIG BORES soon.

Hey thanks J for poppin in and showing us some of your wears. Like I said "Some"..:) J also travels all over the US for competion Big Bore and Hunting events. He is deadly accurate with his Big Bores and you do not see him sitting and shooting very often..:) In fact I do not think I have ever seen him in person shooting off a bench. Mosty off hand and he hits what he aims at.

For sure we love J and his cannons. He also sponsored the GTA 2007 South Carolina Fun Shoot. Now that is where one can see all of his BIG BORES for sure..:) And he even lets me shoot some of them..:)

I shoot and hunt with a a bigbore airgun.  I'm about to head out the door to scout a new hunting area.  Hoping to find coyote sign out there., as that is my next goal with the tuned 909.
