I have finished my Patriot stock...
« on: January 17, 2009, 05:54:01 AM »
I put 10 coats of finish on it and I personally like it. I decided to make it darker and after that it took me three days to finish putting varnish on it. Somehow it doesn't look as good on the picture as in real life but it's OK. Before I put it all together I took the insides of the gun out and did some deburring and lubing. It still kocks like a horse but it cock smoother then before. Next thing is to put gas ram in it just like Ray did with his. Here are the photos.

Super looking work my friend!!! I really like the wood!!! I did have a question about the screws, but CAP already asked it,....have you considered useing allen head bolts instead,...that is if they will counter-sink into the stock without too much protrusion????? Again,...very nice,... job well done!!!! tjk

This rifle is pretty powerful and it kicks hard so I decided to reinforce that part of the stock with some through screws in case the stock might split along the grain. I know it doesn't look good but I just added extra strength. Maybe I am mistaken about it too. Time will tell. So far it holds pretty well.
