A couple of weeks ago I did a home-tune of sorts on my Beeman RS2 dual caliber (1073 package from Walmart).  I tore it down because I thought the chrony numbers were a bit low for this gun, based on what I've read here about others of its breed (TF89, AR1000, Hammerli Titan, Walther Force 1000) - .177 CPHP 7.9gr around 850 fps.  I cleaned out the thick gray grease and polished most of the metal parts, relubed it with good stuff and put it back together (didn't bother with the trigger as this was very good already).  I've been pleased with the smoother cocking and firing cycle and I knew from my initial testing that I had picked up some velocity - .177 CPHP 7.9gr now shot around 940 fps - but I didn't have time to do any extensive testing.  This week I found sampler packs of Gamo  and RWS  pellets at Pyramyd Air and decided to get one of each and do some real testing.  The following numbers were taken this afternoon using my Shooting Chrony F-1 in my back yard in sunlight w/ the diffusers mounted.  Muzzle was about 12" from the sensor, 10 shot strings.

                              Well, there you have it.  That's all the different type of pellets I own right now.  Haven't done accuracy testing yet, just velocity at this point.  I'm pretty pleased with my Walmart Beeman - good numbers for a $125 gun with a little elbow grease and moly.   :)

Lokks good. My RS2 is going back together soon I just have to do the trigger. I am Hoping to get the same numbers. I don't have a chrony so I am going to have to make an edjucated guess. I just want to stay below supersonic as I am shooting in the back yard

See, there you are! Thanks for backing up what I was claiming earlier. If your results hold true, you should be in the upper 700's to low 800's in .22 depending on the pellet type. Like you said, a lot of gun for the $, and far more than a B26. Imagine what it would do if you were to put the work  and replacement parts into this that they do the B26?

Are you planning on doing crony on your .22, got no crony yet so I test the velocity only on a 1X4 plank @ 15 yards for penetration on my RS2 -.22. I'll be doing lube tune in the near future to make it as smooth as my crossman G1 extreme. Thanks for your crony report on this promising lead shooter.

I don't have a chrony, but I can tell you that my former RS-2 (now my brothers) is an awesome shooter.  We set cans at 30, 40, 60 and 100yds today, the RS-2 would tumble the 100yd can (1qt size metal can) leaving holes in one side and nearly going through the other with a Crossman field hunting pellet (.22/14.3 grain).  Not to mention about a 85% hit rate on the same can using the scope that came with the gun!  We also were pelting a fence post at approx 120yds, making 3/16" dents in it.  That RS-2 is a great gun with a llittle TLC and JM lubes!

I think one of these days I'll have to chrony the .22 just because I really want to know what kind of power its making there. It seemed to be a bit more powerful in .22 before tuning so I'd expect an equivalent improvement - probably in the neighborhood of 17-19 fpe now. I've been distracted from my quest for power from this rifle recently by the arrival of a new RWS 350 Feuerkraft in .22 that desperately needs a lube job. Once I get happy with the 350 I'll probably switch the RS2 to .22 and do some comparisons. Stay tuned...



(I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more air guns!)
