The recent purchase of a Chrony Ballistic Printer presented the question of how best to set up to use it. As a temporary solution, I pulled out the wife's ironing board, but somehow that was unsatisfactory. Aside from taking up too much room in the already crowded gun room, the ironing board was a bit shaky and everything was too low to use comfortably.

So, I cut a 26" piece of pine (redwood) I had and simply put it under Timmy's larger pellet trap. I think it has about a dozen bars or so of duct seal putty at least, so it is plenty heavy to secure the board, providing an 18" shelf in front of the target. I already had a halogen desk lamp atop the target, which seems to work fine with the Chrony. I did cut a 4" strip of cardboard and taped the cardboard between the diffusers to shade any cross-shine from the desk lamp. The printer sets out of harm's way on the desktop. It occurs to me that simply nailing another piece of the 1-by vertically in front of the chrony would protect it. But since I am shooting at only about 6 ft. from the Chrony and at standing eye level, a miss seems fairly unlikely. And, when I am finished, I just put the Chrony away, slip the board out from under the target trap and tuck it in behind the targets, out of the way.
Once I got the light centered, the read out seem consistent. I think this is going to work just fine.
PS: You know your wife has acclimated to your airgun hobby when, before coming up the stairs, she shouts "Cease Fire!". I love her.
