Center Point red dot?
« on: January 27, 2009, 01:41:34 PM »
Anyone tried one of these yet?  I got one for my IZH MP514, but tossed it in a drawer when I sent the IZH back.  Stuck it on my Gamo 440 today, just to see what it's like.  Went to adjust the elevation and windage, and the markings are backward!  Up is down, left is right, looks like Leapers strikes again :-(.  This has no mag, and both a red and green dot.  Frankly, it's no good for short range targets, the dots are too big, even when turned down as low as possible.  At 10 yards the dot completely hides a paint ball.  It also has 1/2" clicks, which isn't fine enough for much of anything IMO.  Guess I'll have to try some life size critter targets next, maybe I'm expecting too much :-).  But if someone really wants one of these, you could probably talk me out of it pretty easy.  Later.

Dave

Well Dave, I tried one of those cheapo Daisy red dot scopes on a 1377 pumper,...and I wasn't overly impressed with it AT ALL! I can't complain too much though, it only cost about $14,....I've spent more on a lot less. I'm not much of a side-arm shooter anyways,...and the red-dot scope just confirmed that fact even more!!!! LOL's Ended up giving the pistol with the RD scope to my pal Pete. If it's good enough to hunt with, it might be worth trying. Sorry to hear of your dis-satisfaction with the RD,...but take heart,... you're not alone. Happy Shooting, tjk

I bought one of those from walmart and took about ten shots with it. I put it back in the package and used walmarts very generous return policy to get my money back. I was not impressed at all.

The simmons reddot I got for $30 is WAY better.

I've got a Hawke red dot on my IZH 46 -I think it's pretty good as far as red dots go. You can adjust the brightness down to nothing, but there's still a little "bleed" in the dot. I hear this is the norm unless you want to spend much much more......
