Bam B-26

This rifle is excellent as is.  There is enough weight to make it a good offhand rifle without being so heavy you wouldn't want to carry it in the woods.  What an excellent piece to shoot without a scope, and I'm leaning heavily in that direction.  I'll scope it to search for the pellet preference and then take them off.  I'll do the scope thing on the B-40.  I've gotten some time with both guns this evening and am tickled to death with the B-26.  It is easy to appreciate ease of loading with a break barrel.  Loading the B-40 in low light conditions (shade) can be difficult.   I'm smitten with the 26.

Was yours a Mike Melick B-26 / 177? They are great springers, and in my opinion, the best buy, dollar for dollar of any air rifle.

It is a Mike Melick tuned B-26.  Granted, I have not scoped it yet to look for smallest group size per pellet choice, but what I've done with it offhand at about 22 yds using RWS Meisterkugeln 8.2g wadcutters is very encouraging.  Shooting this makes me appreciate how good a R-9 must be and I have to agree on the bang for the buck statement even though there are scads of airguns I haven't tried.  It is early yet, but my initial feeling is that I'm going to become very attached to the B-26.

I had a choice of getting rid of a gun for a Sumatra.  The choice was between my MM B26 .22 and my FWB 124D .177 Beeman tuned with original Blue ribbon scope.  Guess which one I kept!

Mike's guns will shoot as good as or better than a Beeman R9 out of the box, but. . .  the R9 has a better finish, and ambi stock and is available in .20 cal  Just wait until you get your R9 Goldfinger .20 cal. . .  and your next MM B-26 .22 cal.

You are going to love both of your new shooters Charlotte, The B 26 and B 40 are awesome air rifles. You being a FT shooter, I assume these are in .177cal.......Bet you can't have just one.......Shoot Safe and Enjoy......Bill

A well tuned B-26 is an excellent springer and the Beeman R-9 has not got anything on that except the .20 cal that Beeman offers which in my opinion is the best of both worlds..

I don't shoot FT yet.  It's in my future certainly, but haven't even been to a FT match.

I also got one off MM.  Mike said he gave it his "upgrade tune, should shoot just shy of 1000 fps. with lazers."  Hows 979 fps with lazers. Even RWS hobbys went 973.3.  Beeman bear cubs doing 904.7fps.  Superb accuracy, the trigger breaks real clean, averaging 1 lb. 11.2oz.  Light weight, and not too long. In keeping with the light and small theme, I scoped it with a Leapers 6x32 Bug Buster.  Mike said this would become one of my favorites.  He's correct, it doesn't wear me out, like my magnum springers.  This is my second purchase from MM.  And I'll buy again.  His tuning is hard too beat.

Alberta, Alberta ..........reminds me of Eric Clapton's Unplugged CD.  A belated welcome to GTA!  I'm enjoying mine but I'm beginning to realize I have too many choices to make everytime I want to shoot.  That said I view the springer as sort of an ultimate survivalist gun and something that is functional without requiring anything other than pellets and skill.  PCP's are surely more accurate but that pump or air tank are a bit much to lug around.  
I know you will like you MM B-26.  The trigger is really very good.
