Just Pushed Button On New Ruger Air Hawk .177
« on: February 01, 2009, 02:32:15 PM »
Just really curious to see if Tom Gaylord's review is up to snuff..:) on the Ruger Air Hawk .177. He says the trigger is similar to the T105 and is made of metal which in my opinion does not make or break an air gun. But it will be interesting to see what she looks like and how she will tune out. I will make a complete review on overall appearance, tune and accuracy after I have had her a couple weeks.

i loved mine had 26  squirrels  to its name. the one thing is it has no anti bear trap so my friend was shooting it and well bear trapped it what a shame. i remeber mine loved silver star pellets. 1/2 at 20yards off hand with them but kinda are rare pellets if you have any let the air hawk eat some.

Make sure you get a later s/n, because my air hawk has a plastic trigger, I order from sportsman guide back in Sept 08'.

Exactly right CAP. Most of these newer Chinese air rifles I buy just for tuning purposes. Some are workable and some are not. The stocks can always be re-worked if I find a winner..:) There are some of them that have turned out better than from the ones they are cloned from. Just one good example are the B-26 verses the R-9 models. I really do not tune or search for ways to increase the FPS but tune for performance and accuracy.

Yea , Mike, let me know and I'll throw $90 at one. I've been thinking of getting an inexpensive springer to have around to just plink with.  kirby

I'll help you shoot one to death Mike.

Still too cold to play outside so the basement range is getting lots of use.

I paid $126.30 for mine and that included, 4 tins of Gamo Hunters and shipping costs from Pyramyd Air. Take advantage of the 10% discount in the GTA Bargain Gate.

A friend of mine who lives a few streets down from me just bought one of them for popping pests in the backyard and he says his is accurate and extremely good power.  His is completely stock but he says he really likes it.....

I'm lookin forward to how yours comes out Gene after the tune work.....

I've looked at them more than a few times.  I don't really need another .177 springer but it is a nice looking rifle and if it responds well to a tune it might be worth gettin one...   Might make a nice truck gun :)
