Shot this squirrel this afternoon.
« on: December 18, 2006, 07:35:52 AM »
This is my first with a air gun, man I was nervous . I could not keep the crosshairs on the head, but I got him.  The shot was taken around 37 yards with my b26 shooting 8.3 gamo humters at 881 fps 14 fpe.  The pellet entered the left side of his head and exited  just behind the right ear. He twitched a little but stopped after 5 sec's. so I say he really didn't feel to much.

The funny thing is I took 3 shots to get him each time he would just stop and look around then. finally he stopped at a place where I was not to worried about shooting my neighbors windows or cars.  I had the scope set at 12 power so I pretty much looking him in the eye when the pellet hit. not a pretty site being up close and personal with Mr squirrel. I'm still sharking from the excitement of this.  I'm going to have a smoke.

That came off of a russian PSO-1 scope.  It's from my powderburner days.

Congratulations on a fine kill.   Good shooting.  Considering where you hit him I have no doubt that he didn't even have time to feel anything.  The twitching was just involuntary muscle activity, happens all the time.

I know what you mean about getting nervous,,,,, I've been hunting my entire life, and have killed more game animals than I can count, but to this day when I put the scope on a squirrel, rabbit, pigeon, or anything else for that matter, I still feel the adrenaline rush and can feel my pulse quicken.

Anyway, great lookin rifle, great picture, and great shooting.  Congrats  :)

ps (they make great stew mmm mmm)

NICE SHOOTING on your first kill with a airrifle. The thrill of hunt never goes away and theres the satisfaction of a clean kill. I like that rubber eye peice too. Ed
