Wowie, Zowie, Howie!  That looks good enough to eat.  I kind of liked the target style stock that came on mine, too -- except it was strictly a RH set up.  Why did you decide on .22 for a target rifle set up?

Well this is the factory stock re carved and refinished , It's a lot easier   than making a new stock , I could have made a new stock I've made them before  ,But I liked  the look of the factory stock  and wanted to see what I could do with it just a little changes here and their , As far as a 22 cal for a target rifle   I like 22 cal. rifles, and Mike told me he could keep it under 700 fps so it didn't eat CO2 cylinders , but I went and made it a bulk fill , I can buy 20 oz of co2 for 4 bucks in the dive shop they do paint ball too that's about 50 of those little  cyls. that is really cheep to shoot in a bulk setup.I will know how many shots I get tomorrow when I shoot all the gas out of the rifle . I have just set it up today for bulk and I was working on   a couple of rifles today. howie

Mike Melick is the guy, alright.  Not meant to hi-jack your beautiful rifle thread, but here is the Tim Null custom stocked version of my MM AR2078a, and it is a fine little shooter, too, just in case there are any lefty's looking.

Very Very nice Tim does really nice work , I forgot to include that I cut away a little wood there the safety is so you can get the stock off with out removing the safety first , it's not my idea I seen it on the form about a year ago, just put the rifle in the safe mode and mark the outline of the safety lever on the bottom  of the rifle  and cut away the wood so you can just put the rifle on safe mod, and take out the holding screw and lift the rifle out. It makes things much easyer. howie

Looks great, Howie. They both do.

Now would you share a few pointers for an novice hand - I want to sand and finish my new Slavia's stock. It has a thin looking finish and is not very smooth, but the wood looks OK otherwise.

I really like the B-11 rifle, when I visit the factory I will be banging some heads about getting more here with an up grade in Quality...they could be a poor mans R-7 with just a wee bit more work....

I just take the old finish off with a 4x4 pad sander using 100 grit paper then hand sand with 220 grit and stain and varnish 12 coats sanded between with 320 paper , the same as i used to do on Hatteras  yachts , if you are going to re carve a stock it would be a good idea to draw what you want to do on the stock with a marker before  you remove the finish  ( you can remove the marker with alcohol) them I use a 4 inch small side wheel grinder with 80 grit disks to reshape the stock you need to be very careful one   slip and you could ruin the stock  it's a little tricky I've have a lot of time in wood working over 55 years I am a master carpenter as well as a cabinet maker, with a lot of time in boat work which is all hi quality furniture work , their is a post in the library sect. of this form by me. of how to varnish a stock . howie
