*First Air Wolf stats
« on: December 22, 2006, 02:20:17 AM »

I put 250 shots over a chrony from 210 to 100 bar and will get an Excel graph with all the details when my son shows up tomorrow and will enter the figures with his lightening fingers.

The pressure was measured with the high-pressure regulator on my CFtank, so they are more accurate than the little guy on the gun, which, to my amazement, was very accurate.

But, as a general indicator, here are some rough stats:

52 deg F --> 48 30% humidity 30mm Hg 20dec06

Gamo match 7.5g

1 shot 210bar - 955fps [3050psi]

20- 200 - 965

20- 190 - 990

20 - 180 - 1000

30 - 170 - 1015

30 - 160 - 1020

30 - 150 - 1015

30-140 - 1010

20 -130 - 998

20 - 120 - 980

20 - 110 - 965

20 - 100 - 930[1450 psi]

Those are some pretty impressive numbers, ed.  If I understand your chart, your best power seems to be at 160bar.  Who'd a thunk you could get 17+ fpe from a 7.5gr. wadcutter??!!  It'll be interesting to see where your best accuracy is, and what pellet produces it.  Now I know why there are 16 and 21 gr. .177 pellets!  Good luck, and Merry Christmas!  BTW, was it all worth it now :-)?  And did you ever get an answer to your question about hopping up the circuit board?

Dave

I consider the sweet-spot to be between 1000 - 998, which gives about 120 shots or 90 shots between between 1015 and 1010, which if I were that good a shot, would be nirvana

At 25 yards, with lubed CPL's and Daystate FTs, sometimes I can put 10 in the same ragged hole, but other times I shoot all around the 10-ring, but I can't explain why. I use the "A-Team" 20-spot sight-in target for practice, and it's helped me.

I also wish I knew why I still get fliers.

No one has any answers on modding the Air Wolf, except for polishing the bolt [which others disagree with] and shroud modifications.

There was a programming unit shown at the nationals to a few people that would allow FPE to be set to be maxed out at up to 40+, but no one has seen one for sale.

To get full performance in .177, I'd have to buy a .22 and have it rebarrelled, and set the power down to give the desired velocity to the desired pellet, like 975fps to a Kodiak.

DAMN!!! I wish I could afford to do it, or Daystate to release to programming unit. It HAS to be cheaper than a rebarrel. They could sell a kit, and give us the responsibility of putting it together.

Sorry, just talking more noise ;-)

I made a mistake and used lousy pellets, giving the randomness to the values a bit larger value.

I shoot cpl and daystate FT/Exacts, which act much better, with tighter values.
